Charivari Given Newlyweds
Willian, Raymond Barnett and
Esther Logan were married on
Monday of this week st the Pen'
tecostal Missionjn Portland, and
arrived in one f here they will
mai their home, on Tuesday.
Tuesday evening a large num
ber of their friends descended
upon the home of Mrs. Bowers
where the young people are stay
ing and Pave them enfold fash
ioned charivari. Refreshments
were served and while the bride
groom was off his guard some
of the guests carried the bride
awayjinto temporary captivity,
returning her later. , . -,
In the morning the street and
yard were found to be decorated
with a miscellaneous assortment
of cowbells, tin pane and other
noise making instruments.
Lundell, Robinson and Bristow
returned from the Deschutes
river last week. The boys got
some very nice Ash but it was so
cold thst It froze them out:
However they brought back
enough fish to make the pan atink

Geo, Henriksen accompanied
by his lather Chris Henriksen
of Portland left on Tuesday for
Canby where they will vjsit
friends for a few dsys. " .

William Raymond Barnett. of

lone High Defeats Condon
lone High won the second
game of the season from Condon
High -on the Condon field last
Saturday by the score of 26 to 12.
lone outplayed Condon all thru
the first ha.f of the game ( and
had the score 19 to 0 in their
favor at the end of the first half.
But in the last half the weight of
the Condon back field began to
tell and Condon was able to put
over two touchdowns to lone's
one.
Condon won the toss at the be
ginning of the game and kicked
to Linn of lone who ran the kick
back 20 yards before he was
downed. Ionn marched down
the field and in a gew minutes
had the bsll on Condon s ten
yard line. Twice Condon's line
held and kicks were attempted
by Linn, lone recovering the ball
the (first time and Condon the
aecond. On the first play Condon
fumbled, and the ball was recov
ered by Lundell. On the first
plsy after thia Graves received
a pus from Bristow and crossed
the goal line for the first touch
down. Linn missed the goal
kick. '
lone kicked to. Condon who
fumbled again on the second
plsy, lone recovering the ball.
Just at the beginning of the
second quarter another pass from
Bristow to Graves was good for
15 yards, and Bristow carried
the ball across on a criss cross
play. Linn again missed the
goal kick. .Again just before
the end of the aecond quarter
George Ritchie recovered a fum
ble In the middle of the field and
with Bristow and Graves for in-
terfernce ran 45 yards for a
touchdown. This time the extra
point was made and the score
stood lone 19, Condon 0.

Mrs. Mary S. Cogswell
Mrs. Mary S. Cogswell died
at the home hf her daughter,
Mis. A. F. Nelson of Tillamook,
on October 14th. Site was eighty-
four years of age.
Her death was th?tesull of in
juries received from a fall a
short time ago. Five children
survive, William, Jacob, Hugh,
Arch, and Mrs. Jessie Nelson.

best were Uristow, Linn and
Graves in the back field and G"o.
Ritchie at end for lone, and In
man and Morgan in the back field
for Condon. ,
- Friday lone pi ay a the strong
team from Lexington High.
Lexington has most of last year's
players back, and will average
ten or fifteen pounds heavier
than lone. But thove who have
seen the lone team play are sure
that it will be a real game even
though the odds are heavy in
favor of Lexington.

Oddfellows Hold Convention
A meeting of Oddfellows of
Umatilla and Morrow counties,
called at the instance of the
Grand Master of the Jurisdiction
of Oregon was held at Pendleton
Tuesday evening, October 14.
There were present the Grand
Master, a number of Grand and
Pan Grand Officers and represen
tatives of nearly all lodges in the
two counties mentioned.
The Grand Master reviewed
the condition of the lodges in the
jurisdiction and submitted plans
to boost the membership and in
fluence of the ordeh
The plans were referred to a
committee composed of represen
tatives in attendance. The
committee after deliberation re
ported unanimously in favor of
the adoption of the plans pro
posed by the Grand Master.
A number of Inspirational talks
were made and at the close of
the session an oyster supper was
served by- the membership of
Eoreka lodge. lone lodge was
represented by George Richie,
Frank Griffin, Lee Howe, Lee
Pudberg and Charles Shafer.

Rebeccas Initiate Two .
Last Thursday night at the
I. 0. 0. F. hall the Rebeccas
initiated a class into the myster
ies of the Rebecca Degree.
There were about fifty in at
tendance and the ladies put on
the work fn a way to make any
one proud of being a memberf
After lodge was dismissed the
members had a Hillow E'en
party that was very enjoyable.
A witch was present and all
who had their palms read were
perfectly satisfied. There was a
marsh mallow race and tho Vera
had to get on her knees to make
the pesky thing behave, ahe won
first prize.
Several goodlooking men were
invited to a needle threading Con
test with one eye shut The
writer did not learn who won the
prize in this contest but can
vouch that each of the contest
ants had a black eye when it
was over. '
We will have to take our hats
off, to J. P.,Louy when it comes
to eating doughnuts. He eats
them hole and all. Pumpkin pie
doughnuts and coffee were
served at the close of a very
merry evening. We hop we
may spend another such an even
ing in the near future. One
