The Council of the Town -of
lone met Tuesday evening:, but
adjourned for want of a quorum.
Word has been received of the
death of Mrs. Hall, wife of Rev.
J. T. Hall, former pastor of the
Congregational church here, and
who Is now a resident of Cali
fornia.
Mrs. Hall's death was caused
by ptomaine poisoning.

Mrs. R. W. Brown was called
to Portland, to be at the bed side
of her daughter Hazel, who has

where he will join his mother
on a trip to Seaside, for a few

James Leach and Welcome
McAllister ha-e left for Mt.
Hood and vicinity.
Mr. Ed Keller and ran have
gone to McDuffee springs, where
they expect to stay about two
weeks.
Ed Cummings had a narrow
escape from losing one of his
fingers Monday, when he was
working on the highway. A
large boulder rolled down on his
hand, and several stitches were
necessary to close the wcund.
Mrs. Clark Davis has recently
recovered from a severe case of
appendicitis.
It is reported that the wheat
on the Kay Young place on
Black Horse is Yielding aUut
20 bushels per acre.
Adolf Majeske has started
hauling-wheat. -

Sunday for a visit with her

Capt Harvey Parkins left Sun
day for Moscow, Idaho, where
he will spend several weeks with
his invalid brother.

Auto Accident at Heppner
Word was received in lone
Tuesday morning that Baird
Patterson, of Heppner, had lost
his life in an automobile accident
near the Joe Rector place on Hin
ton creek. Monday evening.
Mr- Patterson was driving a
bug belonging to Chas. Bell.
Bell lost his hat and got out to
gel it, while Patterson took the
car on to a convenient turning
place, and coming back to meet
Bell at a high rate of speed, met
a team. In passing the team a
tire blew out and the car. leaving
the road, struck a barb wire
fence. Patterson was instantly
killed, the top of his head being
torn off and his neck broken.
He is the son of C. C. Patterson,
at one time Judge of Morrow
County.
H. R. Smith, of Rock Creek,
was in lone on business last
week. Mr. Smith is a former
wheat rancher of this section.
J.T. Knappenbergof Portland,
arrived in lone, Monday, to look
after business interests in Mor
row County.

poor health. She expects to be
