I Martin Bauernfiend and Mr. I Harbison returned from Portland last Friday where the latter pur chased a new Star car. Mrs. Esta Bauernfiend's sister, Mrs. Nellie Walters of Portland, is here visiting relatives. Mrs. T. M. Beneditt called on Mrs. H. 0. Ely Wednesday. She and her husband are on their way home to Lyle Washington. H. 0. Ely and wife, also their aunts, Mesdames Walters and Bauernfiend, drove to Heppner on Tuesday. Jim Hardesty finished plowing Monday and is now building fence with the help of his son. Mrt Palmateer and son Bert, went over to Shelter Flat last Tuesday. Noah Pettyjohn sold some nice cattle to Geo. Ritchie of lone. Mrs. Halferty is visiting witu Mrs. Jim Warfield for a time. Tibie Miles purchased 3 head of work horses from Mr. Cogs well last Sunday, and is ready to run two plow teams and the dirt will sur be turned over now on the Tibie place. The Mesdames Pat and Grace M ;dlock and children, visited at Mrs. Noah Pettyjohn's Monday last. Mrs. Halferty called on Mrs. Hardesty Tuesday. Last Sunday Mrs. H. 0. Ely gave a dinner in honor of her father's (Mr. Palmeteer,) birth day which was greatly enjoyed by all the relatives and all wish ed Mr. Palmeteer would have more birthdays if he treated them to such good leeds. Mr. Harbison purchased several good lots of wheat this week. Mrs. Pat Medlock was sur prised last Thursday night by several of her friends and rela tives, it being her birthday. Up to a late hour, games were play ed and then a bountiful lunch was spread after which all returned to their homes wishing Mrs. Med lock more such good times.
