inru visitor In this city Tuesday.
Rev. Mr. Keating' is visiting- towns in
this territory in the interests of the
W. C. T. U. Children's Farm Home at
Corvallis. While on a visit to the
home recently he was much impressed
with the goud work being done, and
seeing the need for the improvement
which are being asked for he enlisteJ
his services to help obtain them.
Marriage licenses were issued the
past week by Clerk Anderson to Tony
Campanale and Marie F. Webb of
Boardman, and Frank A. Ackerman of
Los Angeles and Anna Gorham of
Boardman. The first couple were
married Sunday night by Judge Camp
bell, and the Judge tied the knot for
the second couple last Thursday.
C. H. Latourell's father and mother,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Latourell of San
Diego, Cal., stopped over Wednesday
in Boardman. They drove over to
the Yakima country Thursday, ac
companied by Mr. and Mrs. C. H.

Due to the migratory movement to
the mountains Sunday, Father Cant
well went along and conducted ser
vices of the Catholic church in the
cool shade of the evergreens Sunday
morning. A large number of the
members were present.
Dr. and Mrs. John Huston are in
Heppner on a visit at the home of
Dr. Huston's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
E. K, Huston. Dr. Huston was an
assistant at the University of Oregon
infirmary in Eugene the past year.
B. B. Bayles, in charge of plant
breeding work at the Moro experi
ment station, is harvesting the grain
in the nurseries on the Lawrence
Redding farm, Eight Mile, and Troy
Bogard farm, lone, this week.
Orin Wright was displaying two
large rattlesnakes in town Sunday.
He caught the varmints near his
place on Rhea creek. Henry Aiken
now has the snakes on display at the
Martin Reid garage.
The Paul Gemmell family and Mrs.
J. H. Gemmell, mother of Mr. Gem
mell, are spending a week's outing in
the mountains up Willow creek. They
departed from the city Monday morn
ing. Mies Thelma Miller, popular assist
ant at the Harwood Jewelry store, is
spending a week's vacation at Butter
by Flats, the fnrm home of Mr, and
Mrs. Jack Hynd and family below Cecil.
Phlll Cohn and daughter Eleanor
came up from their Portland home
Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Cohn to look
after business interests and Miss El
eanor to visit friends and relatives.

Miss Muriel Bell was indisposed
for a few days the first of the week,
suffering the effects of having her
tonsils removed The operation was

at that place last Sunday, Rev. Bert
S. Hughes of Umatilla performing the
ceremony.

Heppner Monday, coming up Sunday
evening from his home at The Dalles.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Reid, daugh
ter Lois and Marjorie Clark departed
Saturday by car for Yellowstone Na
tional Park on a vacation trip.

2. -Miss Grace Edgington, for aeveral
years alumni secretary and editor of
Old Oregon, who resigned her post
this spring, will leava the campua to
day. She will drive to Portland, and
from then to Sisters, Oregon, where
she plana to do sv little ranching and
some writing.
Miss Edgington, after graduating.
from the University of Oregon in '16,
was for three years on the faculty of
the University of Washington. In
11)20 she returned to her alma mater
as alumni secretary and editor of Old
Oregon, the alumni magazine. At that
time. Old Oregon was a quarterly
publication, six by nine Inches in
site. Under Miss Edgington'a editor
ship, the publication increased to
three times Its former ais, and is
now issued nine times a year.
In addition to her'duties as alumni
secretary and editor, Miss Edgington
haa been a member of the faculty as
an assistant professor in tha English
department. She was acting dean of
women in the spring term of 1923.
