BLEAKMAX of Hardman is probably the beat authority on the Heppner-Spray road project any where. He it at home on the road, hag studied every inch of it and has bees connected with every move taken to construct it. At the last organiza tion meetnif of the Heppner Com mercial club he made a very enlight ening talk ok ita possibilities, when he was applauded long and loudly. It was at that meeting that every Hepp ner business man present promised his loyal support to any move taken toward forwarding the project. In this issue of The Gaxette-Tiraes, Mr. Bleakman speaks again. Let's hope that what he has to say this time brings more thaa a meaningless ap plause. It seems hardly necessary to reit erate all the arguments which we have printed previously is these col umns, favoring this project. Every Heppner business man is acquainted with the facta. We would, however, like to urge everyone interested in the matter to read and consider Mr. Bleakmati's letter, and each one to do his bit toward putting the thing over. As we see it, no one is to be taxed financially, so there is no need for hesitation on this score. All that is wanted is a unanimous support be hind a delegation to put the matter up before the state highway com mis sion in an endeavor to get the road put on the state map. This is such a little job for the great benefits that we all know are practically assured to follow, that we wonder at the appar ent lack of interest. Let us second Mr. Bleakman'i re quest for a meeting to be held in Heppner in the immediate future to start action on the Heppner-Spray road project. Now is the best time while the commission has the leisure to give the matter thorough con aid e rati on. $$$ SNEAKING RECALL JOBBERY. ALL surface indications are to the effect that the recall movement organized against Governor Pierce was actuated by the narrowest selfish considerations and is being pursued by disreputable and contemptible methods. Nothing definite has transpired as to who financed the expensive under taking. Those who were really re sponsible for it are skulking behind cover. Their own estimate of their own motives is evidently a low one. They appear to realise they are doing something dastardly and are deter mined not to permit their own iden tity to be revealed. Signatures were obtained by dis reputable methods in disreputable neighborhoods and in disreputable re sorts, according to what we have been told by petition circulators who, to earn r fe dollars, resorted to meth ods which were to themselves revolting. Governor Pierce repeatedly evinces that he is worried by the recall. It must be his conscience that is worry ing him, for he has nothing to fear from a recall movement originating in alimy motive and organised by slimy n-ethod. The people of Ore gon resent defilement of their insti tutions, and prostitution of the re call to pervert practices will be con demned by them by an immense ma jority at the polls if they ever have a chance to vote on it. Like other base effort, conceived in iniquity, this recall movement is having the opposite effect to that in tended. It is confirming Governor Pierce's tenure to the full term for which he was elected and is adorn ing his undeserving brow with the halo of martyrdom. Oregon Voter. S-S-S Thoroughbred Bronx. Hog houses should have tight walls, roofs, doors nad windows, abundant sunlight, well drained floors and plenty of fresh air without drafts. They should be strongly built of good materials. Frame eonstuction meets all these requirements and Tum-A-Lumber is recommended because it is carefully and accurately made, is strong, durable, depend able and will give life-long hon est service.
