Will Celebrate Opening of
Ferry At Boulder, Oregon

anJ Boulder, Ore., is planning to cel
ebrate the event by a big basket din
ner to be given in the illow grove
on the Boulder side of the river on
Sunday, May 2S.
The people from both sides of the
river will gather on this side for din
ner, and it is expected that there will
be a large number present. A spe
cial invitation is extended to Hepp
ner and Morrow county people to
drive down to Boulder on Sunday
and participate in the feed and other
ceremonies. Well filled baskets may
be brought along, but it is under
stood that whether this is done or
not there will be plenty of good eats
provided by the people of both Boul
der and Alderdale. The object of
the picnic is to celebrate the opening
of the ferry, and it will be possible
for people over this way to cross
over to the Washington side and get
acquainted with the good people
there and take a run over the good
roads leading out from Alderdale
into the Horseheaven and Mabton
sections.
A trip down Willow creek high
way to the Junction and then a short
run up the Columbia highway will
bring you to Boulder. One of the
big features of the feed will be a
salmon bake lots of good, fresh
salmon, properly prepared, will add
materially to the many other good
things in the line of edibles that will
be spread before the visitors, and
having been there on a previous oc
casion, the editor of this paper can
vouch for the many good things that
the people of the Alderdale com
munity can set before their guests.

Condon Ball Team Will Have
Band Here Monday, Tuesday
Two games of ball are scheduled
for Heppner on Monday and Tuesday
of the coming week, at which time
the locals will be called upon to de
fend their laurels. The Condon
folks are coming over with flying
colors and their band to help lend
enthusiasm and pep to the occasion,
and two rousing good games of ball
are promised the fans.

won out by a score of 7 to 8, Hepp
ner having the lead uo to the 9th in
ning, when they were able to nego
tiate sufficient runs off the locals to
put them over. It was a good game,
out piayea under adverse weather
conditions.
First Christian Church

to do honor to our war heroes, both
living and dead; Memorial Sunday
w ill be observed as a union service,
and the building should be filled A

ed by the Communion service, from
there we go to the Federated church.

fails in acceleration and on the hills, be
cause of poor lubrication.
The purpose of lubrication is to reduce
friction. In this connection it must be re
membered that oils have internal or mo
lecular friction. The heavier the oil Hhe
