For Joint Representative.
I hereby announce my candidacy
on the Republican ticket for Joint
Representative of the District of Mor
row and umatma umniies in mc
May primaries. I have lived in Uma
tilla county 24 years and own prop
erty in both counties. 1 was a mem
ber of the 1919, or War Sesson, and
the specal session of 1920 of the Ore
gon Legislature and otherwise have
devoted much time to public matters.
1 have no platform, except to offer
the best judgment I have and to pur
sue a conservative and economic
course. I believe in applying strict
business methods to public matters.
When we can pay for public develop
ment we should have betterments,
but when taxes grow burdensome we
must be content with the old ways ua
til we can do better, just now taxes
must be trimmed wherever possible
and no new appropriations made;
and the pressing need of the farmer
and stockman must be the main issue
in law making and in the sphere of
public influence.

Men
know the power of knowledge. Knowledge is
the truth about Persons, Places, Things.
F'r instances: If you had time to count all of
the letters used by the printers of this page, yon
would find more "eV used than any other
letter. The letter "t" comes next, then "o,'.'
"a," "n" and so on with "z" least nsed.
That is all very interesting, but not very val
uable knowledge. However, the words these
letters spell can prove valuable to you. In the
news and advertising columns of The Gazette
Times the regiments of "e's," "t's," "o's,"
"a's," and "n's," tell both interesting and val
uable messages every week if you will but
read and profit.

Resolutions of Condolence
Sans Souci Rebecca Lodge, No. 33,
I. O. O. F.
Whereas it has pleased the Ruler
of the Universe to summon to her
eternal home our Sister Frankie Lu
per, who was always a faithful mem
ber; Be it Resolved: That we hereby
extend our heartfelt sympathy to the
bereaved family of our departed Sis
ter in their sad affliction.
May God's blessing be with them.
(By Robert McCabe, Ith grade.)
An unclean mouth invites disease
germs. A clean mouth is a great pro
tection against disease germs. ' You
should brush your teeth after the
first meal of the day and after the
evening meal, and you should see the
dentist once every month, and brush
the teeth in all directions to be sure
that you have removed the food from
between them.
We should keep our teeth in good
condition so that they can do their
work of chewing food. Decayed teeth
cause an unclean mouth, toothache,
and diseases of the gums will do the
same. If the teeth are in bad condi
tion you must go to the dentist at
"ence.
There are thirty-two teeth in the
set, sixteen upper and sixteen lower.
The temporary teeth are the ones
before the permanent ones come in.
They should be taken care of just as
well as the last set because they do
the most important work of a child.
The molars come in behind the ba
by teeth. They must be taken care
of or they will decay. You will have
to watch them, to take care of them
so that they won't decay. Remove
the particles from between the teeth
with dental floss or quill toothpick.
Brush them downward and brush all
directions on the surface of the mo
lars. The inside must be brushed as
well as the outside.
You must go to the dentist several
limes a year. Do not wait too Ion?
to go to the dentist. If you do it will
be a big operation for the dentist and
hard on you, and will cost you more
to get them filled or crowned or cap
ped. The baby teeth comeout when
the child is about five years old and
then a new set comes in. You must
take god care of them.
