Oregon, for the purchase of bonds of
said County, Issued for the building of
permanent roads therein. One block of
said bonds being for the sum of 970,
000.00, Number 231 to 290 being for the
sum of 91,000,000 each, Number 291 to
310 being for the sum of $500.00 each
One block of said bonds for the sum of
140,000.00, same being In denominations
of 11,000.00 each. Bald Bonds to bear
date November 1st, 1919, and to mature
absolutely without option of prior re
demptlon November 1st, 1929, said
bonds bear Interest at not to exceed 6
per cent per annum, payable semi-an
nually on May and November first prin
cipal and Interest payable In United
States Gold Coin at the office of the
County Treasurer of Morrow County,
Oregon, or at the Fiscal Agency of the
State of Oregon In New York City.
Said bids must be accompanied by a
certified check for 5 per cent of the
face value of the bonds bid for and
must be unconditional.
The approving legal opinion of
Messrs. Teal, Minor & Winfree of Port
land, Oregon, will be furnished the
ucccssful bidder.

SAVINGS CERTIFICATES

HeKlnnfng December 15, 1921, the Un
ited States government offers for sal
through the Post Office department a
new issue of United States Treasury
savings certificates In $25, $100, and $1,
000 denominations. The $25 and $100
certificates will be supplied to post
masters at all Offices of the presiden
tial grade. The sale of the $1,000 cer
tificates will be confined for the present
to the larger first-class offices.
The new certificates possess Import
ant advantages for the Investor, as
compared with previous Issues, and the
government counts on the loyal and
earnest service of postmasters, so often
proved in rspoense to previous calls, to
bring these advantages home to the
purchasing public.
Until further notice the selling price
of the new certificates will be $20, $80,
and $800, respectively, for the three de
nominations. These prices are flat and
will not change from month to month
as in the rape of pr.'v.vi i,vj8. Thfi

The legal limit has been raised frorn
$1,000 to $j,0i0, effective November 23,
1921. It Is not lawful for any person
at any one time to hold certificates of
any annual series to an aggregate am
ount exceeding $5,000 maturity value.
The certificates IsBued within a calen
dar year will constitute one series, ard
certificates of the new issue sold in
December, 1921, will be considered as of
the 1921 series. Thus, a person who
does not already hold war savings cer
tificates of the 1921 series may buy $5,
000 maturity value of the new issue In
December, 1921, and $5,000 additional
in 1922.
Detailed Instructions by the Third
Assistant Postmaster General have been
inclosed with the Initial supply of
Treasury savings certificates of the
new issue sent to the postmasters at
all accounting offices. These Instruc
tions will be published as a conven
ience for the saving of small amounts.

Postal Service In the new savings cam
paign, the aim of which will be to
bring public attention to the advan
tages of postal savings for depositing
money and Treasury savings securities
