Miss Norma Frederick of the local
telephone exchange, went to Pendleton
on Friday, where she visited for a' few
days with Miss Neva Hayes. Miss
Hayes has recently returned to Pen
dleton from California, and Is again at
work In the telephone exchange there

Turner was moved to the D. O. Justus
ranch the first of the week, where they
will be engaged for some time. They

Hutter creek the last of the week.
Leo Nicholson left Mondny for Seattle,
and after spending a few days there,
will go on to Montana to find work
during the shearing season. Leo was a
fine nddltlon to the Heppner ball team
and the fans are sorry he had to leave.
The children of the grndes In the
Heppner schools were taken out by
their Jeachers for a picnic yesterday,
going to different, points along Willow
rreek above town, where they enjoyed
themselves Immensely. The day was

Lou Davidson and his son-in-law,

The entertainment given at ilardman
on last Saturday evening by the stu
dents of Heppner high school, under the
direction of Miss linfoe, was well re
ceived by the people of that town, who
turned out well. The entertainment
was given In the new high school build
fnif. and the youngsters of the Heppner
school are delighted with the treatment
they received at the hands of the Hard
man people.
Spencer Akers and family drove over
to (loldendale, Wash., the last of th
week, spending several daya In the
Klickitat valley visiting with relatives.
They returned home Monday evening.
Mr. Akers states that the weather con
dltions have been unfavorable to the
growing crops over there this spring,
and as a result grain Is far behind
what It is In Morrow county and does
not look nearly so well.
J. Ft. Jackson was in from his farm
In the Lexington section Tuesday and
reports that the grain on the Jackson
place Is coming along Just fine. There
will be nothing to It, according to Mr.
Jackson, If the farmer succeeds In get
ting a fairly decent price for his grain
this fall. He will soon forget all that
has happened to him during the past
year. Just at present Mr. Jackson Is
suffering from a severe attack of rheu
matism and thinks he will have to take
a trip to the hot springs to get relief.
