1. "The vetch aphis Ih showing up
on the growing crop again this spring
in sufficient number to cause consltl
arable alarm," says A. L. Lovett, en
tumologint of the O. A. C. experiment
station.
"Numerous inquiries are coming to
me regarding the possible outcome o(
the present Infestations. Follolwing
a fairly comprehensive survey of the
situation we can say that we do not
anticipate any such calamity as be
fell the vetch fields two years ago.
"Observation Indicate that the pre
sence of natural enemies in the field
Is sufficient to check any considerable
Increase in the present number of
aphlds. It Is true that the lady bird
beetles (which aided so materially in
the final control of the aphlds two
years ago are absent from the field
at this time, but a syrphus fly, such
as checked the vetch aphis outbreak
In 1912 so successfully, Is now pre
sent In the fields in numbers busily
depositing eggs.
"It la rather difficult to find any
considerable group of aphlds where
a number of these small, enlongated
(white eggs are not present on the
surface of the leaves in the imme
diate vicinity. The maggot hatching
from these eggs Is a long greenish
pointed creature and feeds voracious
ly on aphlds. In confinement they
have been observed to devour more
than one per minute or over 60 per
hour.
"If the present warm weather
continues It is reasonable to suppose
that these natural enemies will be
able to develop and effectively check
and control the present aphis outbreak."
Grimm Alfalfa
During the past month tho Morrow
County Farm Bureau has shipped In
about fifteen hundred pounds of
Orlmm alfalfa seed. While the price
has been quite high that toe have
been forced to pny, the grade vitality
of the Bced and the fact that you do
not have to sow as many pounds per
acre, do not make this any more ex
pensive for seeding than the ordinary
variety. It Is certainly true that the
yields which are received from this
alfalfa are far superior to that of
any of the other varieties. The in
creased yield by this variety Is var
iously estimated anywhere from 20
to 60 per cent, depending upon the
adaptability and soil conditions. This
is enough to make it clearly worth
while. It has another great advan
tage in view of the fact that Its wide
rooting system makes It possible to
get along on a great deal less mois
ture. This makes It greatly preferred
where the irrigation water is short.
Another AdvnntAffe is that the crown
of the alfalfa Is below the surface of
4ha vrnilnil hvhlla nn lha rtnllnnrv vnr.
lety it is up on top. This makes il
less liable to winter killing. If the
grasshoppers should infect the affal
fa fields In the future as they have
In the past this would also be to their
advantage as the grasshoppers would
not be able to eat Into the ground
to get at the Orlmm alfalfa crown.
There Is no question but that this
Will give great deal better results
than the ordinary alfalfa seed, which
iwas heretofore grown.

Brunswick Principles
In Fine Tire Making
The reason yon are interested in the name on your tire is
that it identifies the maker. By knowing the maker you can
udge his ideals of manufacture.
The only secret of a super-tire lies in the principles of the
.naker. His standards decide the quality. For there are no
secrets in the tire industry.
What you get depends on what is behind the name on youfl
tire. Brunswick, as you know, means a very old concern,
jealous of its good name. Since 1845 the House of Brunswick
has been famous the world over for the quality of its products.
The Brunswick Tire is all that you expect and more.
Your first one will be a revelation. YouH agree that you've
never known a better. And you'll tell your friends. So spreads
the news among motorists. The Brunswick is the most wel
come tire that ever came to market
Try one Brunswick Tire. Learn how good a tire can be
uuilt And remember, it costs no more than like-type tires,
