Ti.:s is the story of a wild, gunto
tir.s. yuick VaootUig. bad man from
the prairies, who knows more law
than the law books. He is declared
to be the wizard of the coast in mat
vy advice that ever came out of a col
y advice that eve came out of a col
lege. rerfectly respectable bankers and
financiers, ho never did anything
worse than sueeie a million out of a
deal in stocks, are declared to be
clients of the gun-handling outlaw.
He gives his advice without pay.
The wizard in Question is Harry
Carey, who will play this week at the
Star theater in "A Fight for Love."
Harry Carey is the star of Western
Universal dramas, and away back in'
the dim and misty past he graduated
from a university with his father's
best w ishes to become a lawyer. In
stead of that he became m broncho-
hustir.R hero of the screen. But the
law still sticks to him. It is declared
that out on the coast, anionic the mo
ie colony, it has become quite fash
ionable to call on Mr. Carey for un
otacial lt'sal advice.
Harry Carey, the Universal cowboy
star of "Overland Ued." who is now
working on "Luck" under the direc
tion of Lynn Reynolds, got a chance
the other day to spring an old tried-and-true
wheeze with a setting that
was somewhat new.
During a lull between scenes in
"Luck" out at Universal City, a group
of players were discussing the worst
mud they had ever seen. One old
fellow, a Civil War veteran, told ab
out the Battle of the Wilderness
hen he said it rained and rained.
One artillery team disappeared com
pletely in the mud, he said.
A younger war veteran, not long
back from France, spoke up and
"lowed as how" he had seen some
mud himself during some of the cam
paigns on the Western front.
Then Harry Carey rose to the occa
sion. "I've seen some mud, too," he said
' in his most serious Tein.
"When I was a boy, one day during
a terribly wet spring, I saw a hat in
a big puddle right in the middle or
the road, so I waded out to get it.
Maybe you don't believe it, but there
was a man under that hat.
' '.'Says I, 'Oh, hello, can't I give you
' a lift?'
"He looked up rather testily and
said:
" "No, I guess I can git along, I'm
on horseback.' "

Maybe that left front tire has a break in the fabric and you are
looking for it to blow out a perfectly good tube any day, or

allowing the mud and water to rot the fabric or cords.
