Mrs. Lillian Wentworth notifies
this paper that she has moved with
her husband from Upland, Calif., to
St. Joseph, Mo., where Rev. Mr.
Wentworth has accepted the pastor
ate of the First Methodist church.
Mrs. Wentworth is a sister of L. K.
Bisbee, our local townsman.
A. H. Stamp, pioneer farmer who
resides east of Heppner, went to
Spray Monday, In company with his
daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs.
John Gates. Mr. Gates is an exten
sive stockman of the Spray country
and he and Mrs. Gates were Interest
ed visitors at the Morrow County
Fair.
W. G. Scott, president and W. 0.
Hill, cashier of Lexington State Bank
were up to Heppner on Monday even
ing on business connected with this
new financial institution. While
running but a few months, the new
bank is making a splendid showing
and the management are highly grat
ified at the results obtained so far.

issue of the Gazette-Times.
Mrs. Jas. Cypert departed Mon
day for a short visit with her daugh
ter residing at Walla Walla. Mr. and
Mrs. Cypert lived for many years In
the Lexington section where they
farmed. A few years ago them went
to the Walla Walla country but
never invested in property there.
They returned here during the spring
and will likely make Morrow county
their permanent home hereafter.

Mrs. J. E. Berwick has returned
to her Heppner home after an ab
sence of several months in. Portland,
occasioned in the first instance by
the serious illness of her husband,
and later by her own sickness. She
was compelled to enter the hospital
there for an operation but is now en
tirely recovered from its effects and
is glad to be able to return to Hepp
ner again, where she is made wel
comfe by her many friends.

A HAIR RAISING EXPERIENCE.
A Pleasant One This Time.
Seldom has It become the lot of an
entertainer to be In a position to en
tertain and nt the same time provide
the means of raising hair, but such is
true of Miss Sheehan and her readings
if the following story, as vouched for;
is true.
It was In Missouri, and a young
man was attending n concert with his
mother, and Miss Sheehan was the en
tertainer. The young man previously
had been trying to train his hair to a
pompadour and had hnd considerable
trouble In Inducing it to become tract
able. During the course of the enter
tainment, Miss Sheehan hnd occasion
to render a new number of especial
pathos and spirit, entitled "The Ti
tanic." It Is a piece that cnlls for un
usual ability and presence, but one
that will bring out the finer sensibili
ties of all who hear it
The young pompadour man sat with
eyes and ears wide open, without a
sound, except an occasional hiss from
between his set Hps, and a long drawn
sljih of mental and physical relaxation
at the finish. After a mojnent hi turn
ed to his mother, ana said, "Gee,
wasn't that great?" and upon receiv
ing an affirmative reply In n hushed
whisper he added, "Gosh, Mn, I'd like
to hear that every day, it was great
for my pompadour, my hair went right
up and stnyod there until the finish.
I'd have a dandy If I could do that
every day."
One cannot help but feel that Miss
Sheehnn's offerings nil tend to create
intense interest in the subject In hand.
Pnthos, comedy and dramn have their
part In her repertoire and each is done
with the same degree of perfection.

OUT OF WORK.
If anyone expects a serious lec
ture in "Out of Work" by Dr. John A.
Gray, he Is In for n most pleasant sur
prise, for the lecture abounds with
humor and funny situations. Of
course It has its pathetic side, nnd
nt times you feel the thrill of the
flowery, but just when feeling bus
