Miss Ruth Parker, who teaches
school in the Liberty district was in

age, made a hurry call to the Sand
Hollow country Monday to build a
new Ford.
Percy Jarmon, the Butter creek
farmer and Btockman, was in the city
Tuesday on a business visit. He was
accompanied by Mrs. Tom O'Brien.

Theodore Anderson of Eight Mile
was in Heppner Saturday and was
accompanied home by his daughter,
Miss Katie, who is a student in Hepp
ner high school.
Arthur Gemmell and family of the
Lexington country, were in Heppner
Tuesday for a visit at the home of
Mr. Gemmell's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. H. Gemmell. Mr. Gemmell reports
crop prospects fine in his section.
Henry Vance of the Oregon garage
recently purchased a new Overland
car from Minor & Co. This firm has
sold several of these popular cars the
past few weeks. They will bring in
a new Willys-Knight in a few days.
The elevator construction depart
ment of the Tum-A-Lum Lumber
company will build a 66,000 bushel
capacity grain elevator for the Pres-
cott Farmers Warehouse company at

Walter Hayes received the best

day when he left for Portland to en

Heppner boys have responded
promptly to the recent call of Presi
dent Wilson for more men for the
navy.
A. E. Rivers, the new frursge man
at lone, was in Heppner Sunday. Mr.
Rivers, who is the Morrow county
dealer for the Paige car, has sold sev
eral of them during the past few
weeks. Glenn and Edgar Ball of
Gooseberry are the latest purchasers
of this popular car.

sport model, four passenger, Saxon.
Wes Stephens of Hardman came to
Heppner last week. to receive a new
Buick car which he had purchased
from the Heppner Garage. He drove
the car home Saturday.
John J. Kelley, who has been run
ning sheep with the firm of Kelley &
Ward, has bought out his partner
and will conduct the buslnes alone in
the future. He paid Mr. Ward $6
for the lambs and $9.50 for the ewes.
Will Morgan, who has been hold
ing a position with the Pacific Tel
ephone & Telegraph Co. in this city
(luring the past two years, left the
first of the week for The Dalles. He
has enlisted in the army' as a lineman.
