Charles Bartholomew has purchas
ed a pumping plant, including engine,
at the Echo Mercliantlle Co. This
plant is to be installed on the ranch
which Mr. Bartholomew Jias leased.

Lexington, received a fracture of the
right arm while cranking his car last
week. The injured man was brought
to Heppner where he received treat

was a Wednesday visitor in Heppner

Mrs. R. W. Turner has been con
fined to her bed a-larre part of the
time during the past week on ac-
ccount of rheumatism. Her condi
tion is improving.
F. L. Cokyendall, division super
intendent and A. W. Hicks, travel
ing passenger agent of the 0. W. R.
& N. Co. were in the 'city last Fri
day with the Elks Special.
Max Crandall and B. E. Roberts,
expert accountants arrived Saturday
from Portland to do some work in
the various offices at the court house.
They have a yearly contract with the
county court to audit the county
books. W. Claude Cox, who recently won
many honors with his entries at the
Dayton Poultry Show, sent three of
his prize wining Wyandottes to Mos
cow, Idaho this week where they will
compete for honors against the best
of the West.
Mose Gamblll, who formerly resided
in this city, has gone into business
for himself in lone and has taken
charge of a pool hall and confec
tionery in that city. He was at one
time engaged in this line of business
in Brownsville.
Ed. Reitmann, a progressive young
farmer of the lone country, was in
Heppner last Thursday attending to
some matters of business. He re
ports that his brother, Walter has re
cently purchased the Sink ranch, ad
joining his own place.
Natt Webb Jr. was in the city on
Tuesday from the Webb ranch south
of Heppner. He says that he has
just received word from his brother
Paul, who is spending a few months
in California, that the weather is
unusually cold there at this time.

formed. This new organization will
work at all times for better attrac
tions and a eloper co-operation among
the various county fairs which it em

week to the effect that a certain
young lady of Salem was suffer
ing from a broken rib, the result of
a fall she took while 'ilking on the
ice on the Columbia river a week or
two ago, in company with a well
known young man oft his city. The
young man may be interested In the
case, and will no doubt recall the in
cident wherein the lady's foet slipp
ed. Mrs. Arthur Hunt, of Clark's Can
yon, has been enjoying a visit from
her brother, Ira N. Wrenn, of Cal
gary, Alberta, during the past week.
Mr. Wrenn was formerly a resident
of the Heppner hills but left these
parts a good many years ago. He
notes a great improvement has taken
place in the surroundings that he
was formerly acquainted with. Af
ter a short visit here, Mr. Wrenn witl
go on to Los Angeles to spend the re
mainder of the winter.
The incorporation papers of the
Heppner Loan & Improvement Com
pany and the Heppner Creamery &
Cold Storage Company have been re
voked by the state corporation de
partment The former company has
long since gone out of active existence
and the Heppner Creamery & Cold
Storage Company was formed here
about two years ago, through the ef
forts of A. L. Sparling. The project
fell through after incorporation pa
pers had been filed.
