Miss Elza Love, sister of Mrs. Fred
Lucas, arirved in the city last Satur
day to spend the holidays. She is
now teaching school at Hood River.
Christmas was observed by the
various Heppner churches, programs
being rendered at the Federated,
Christian and South Methodist chur
ches.
Geo. Stevenson is slowly recover
ing from the Injuries he received in a
local warehouse a month ago, when
several sacks of wheat fell over on
him.
Miss Blanche Minor, a student of
St. Mary's Academy, Portland is in
the city to spend the holidays with
her parentSk Mr. and Mrs. C. A.
Minor.
Herbert W. Copeland was in the
city Wednesday making final proof
on his homestead. Mr. Copeland Is
now teaching' school in Umatilla
county.
Miss Helen Barratt. daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Barratt went to
Cecil Wednesday to visit for a few
days at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Hynd.
Miss Josephine Cameron left the
first of the week for Portland, where
she will spend the holidays visiting
at the home of her mother Mrs. Ellen-
nor Cameron.
Claud Sigsbee, son of Mr. and
Mrs. B. G. Sigsbee,, has returned to
his home in this city from Salem
where he has been attending school
the past year.
Miss Mary Currln, popular student
at the Oregon Agricultural College, is
spending the Christmas vacation at
the home of her parents, Mr. andMrs
Geo. J. Currln in this city.
Miss Lera Gltliens, one of Morrow
County's popular school teachers, is
spending the holidays with her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Glthens,
Miss Glthens Is teaching school in the
vicinity of Morgan.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Wood went to
Portland Sunday. Mr. Wood recent
ly leased the Palace Grill from J. L.
Wilklns, but the latter has again tak
en over the Grill and Mr. Wood will
not return to Heppner.
The Pilot Rock Record came out
in holiday attire last week, consist
ing of two sections of 18 pages each
and carrying an abundance of adver
tisements', general news and Christ
mas stories. It reflects the progress
lve spirit of Pilot Rock as well as the
management of the paper.
While going up the Lone Rock
grade Monday, H. S. Neal's car went
off the road and took a dive to the
foot of the hill. The car was some
what damaged, the front wheel being
broken. The occupants were able to
get out of the car before receiving

et left Sunday for Prescott, Wash.,
to spend Christmas with relatives.
He expects to locate in Walla Walla.
Wm. Siebolds went to Portland last
Sunday to join his family and en-
oy a vacation of two weeks in the
metropolis. Mr. Siebolds is a saddle
maker at the E. G. Noble harness
shop.
Among the newly-weds receiving a
marriage license at the court house
during the past week, we find the
names of Guy Shaw and Pearl Glass.
Both claim Heppner as their post-office.
Arthur Dykstra moved Into his new
farm house last week. W. D. Coon
and G. W. Griggs were the carpen
ters who had charge of the work.
Mr. Coon left for his home in Salem
Sunday.
Ellis Minor and family of Cecil
spent Christmas with their Heppner
relatives. Mr. Minor just recently
rented an adjoining farm, consist
ing of 1000 acres which he will use
for sheep range.
Miss Eva Crawford left last week
for Lone Rock to spend the holidays
with her father, C. D. Robinson.
She expects to spend the winter at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lou
Knlghten of Eight Mile.
Bernard Cox is spending the holi
days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
0. J. Cox on Rhea creek. He has
been living in Orrville, Wash.,during
the past year and expects to return
there after the first of the year.
Bowkers' Orchestra scheduled to
play at the Xmas Ball Tuesday even
