McAtee Bros, have a new clock
which is something of a wonder. In
stead of striking the hour a little door
flies open and a cuchoo performs that
part most admirably. He also an
nounces when a half hour has expired..
The examination of Wm. Stull, who
shot Johnny Locknane, occured at the
court house last Thursday before Jus
tice Rea, Stulf being bound over to
await the result of Loeknane's in
juries. Locknane is still ill and there
is but little hopes for his recovery.
Judge Bradsliaw arrived from The
Dalles on Monday evening last and is
presiding over the court with that
dignity, wisdom, patience, and sense
of justice as our citizens are wont to
expect of a man in that high position
The Gazette has been informed by
a grand army man that the comman
der of Rawlins Post G. A. R. expects
all members of the post, as well as
ex-soldiers, to be present at Heppner
on the 4th of July. The old verte
ran can have a grand reunion on that
occasion.
Henry Heppner bought the north
half of Shipley addition last weeit,
and as soon as the company extend
their track, will erect a ware house
and Dlatform. This is a valuable
piece of property and nicely located.
Johnny Reddlngton, proprietor of
the Puyallup Commerce, of that city,
visited Heppner, his old home, last
week, returning Monday. Johnny
comes back to Heppner every summer
for his health and to look after his
interests here.
