Robert Young, deputy game war
den, went to lone last night where
he showed the fish and game pictures
to the people of that city.

I. C. Cox passed through Heppner
last week on his way to his home
stead in Grant county after spending
a few weeks with relatives on Little
Butter creek.
We overlooked mentioning last
week the arrival of a son at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Corder. Mrs.
Corder is the oldest daughter of Mr.

S. P. Garrigues and son Percy ar
rived in Heppner last Saturday even
ing and are spending several days
on business, being interested in a case

David Wilson, of Portland, presi
dent of the Northwest Timber Co.,
spent a few days in Heppner last
week looking after the extensive in
terests which his company hold in
this county,
Geo. Tonkin of Pendleton and Asa
B. Thompson of Echo acompanied
Carl Shoemaker and Marion Jack to
this city Tuesday. While in the town
Mr. Thompson was a guest at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Spencer
Mrs. tiauci Andrews sustained a
sprained ankle when she slipped and
fell on the stairs at the rear of the
Fair building last week. She is re
ported to be recovering from her in
juries as rapidly as could be expect
ed.
Thos. Hayward, who was brought
over from Monument some time ago
for medical treatment is now on the
road to complete recovery. Mr. Hay
ward was suffering from nervous
prostration. Mrs. Hayward is with
him.
Harry Rood returned from Port
land the first of the week, where he
went to purchase machinery for the
manufacture of ice, it being the in
tention of the City Meat Market to
branch out into this industry in the
near future.
C. V. Fulton, ex-senator from Ore
gon and at the present time a candi
date fcr delagate-at-large to the
republican national convention, was
hi Heppner this week on legal busi
ness. Mr. Fulton is now a practicing
attorney of Portland.

Marion Jack of Pendleton, a mem

evening with some excellent pictures
which were thrown on the screen at
the local theater Tuesday night.
Mrs. Jack Cook left this week for
Portland. She will be joined there in
the near future by Mr. Cook, who has
a little work to finish here before
leaving. Mr. and Mrs. Cook made
many friends while fn this city who
regret very much to see them leave
at this Ome. Mr. Cook is a contract
carpenter.

surance paid by the plaintiff upon
said building, and secured by said
mortgage, with interest thereon from

Pendleton on Monday morning, leav
