After a recent boxing contest in
Pendleton, Mayor Best has placed
taboo on any more fistic encounters
in that city.
Tillamook county, according to the
Bay City Examiner, is determined to
have permanent roads, and citizens
there are bringing the bonding meth
od to an issue by putting the ques
tion on the primary ballot. A $420,
000 bond issue will be voted on and
it carried the county will have a hard
surface road from the Clatsop county
line to the south border of Tillamook
county.
Among other things, Condon has
added a nine-hole golf course, which
is laid out on the east side of town
The first game of golf ever played In
the city was between A. B. Robert
son and John Jackson, who are of the
opinion that the course is a very good
one. "There are very few towns the
size of Condon in the State of Ore
gon that can boast of a golf course,"
says the Condon Globe in a modest
manner.
The first carload of wool shorn in

The advertised wrestling match be
tween Ted Thye and Young Muldoon
failed to materialize last Monday a
week ago at Echo according to the
Echo News. Ted Thye did not put in
an appearance, and after various
changes had been made in the line
up, the small crowd present were
given the choice of money back or an
exhibition match between Ajax and
Jack Root, pugilistic heavyweight.
For an hour Root tried to put Ajax
down, but the smaller man was too
fast. A preliminary match between
Al Sanders and Chas. Wattenburger,
of Heppner, amused the crowd for a
time while Promoter Harlan and his
wrestlers argued over guarantees.
Sanders has aspirations to try . out
"Shine" Fred Markham, and a match
may be arranged in the near future,
E. C. Haddock, the Arlington ho

has laid her thousandth egg. This
esult of sixty five consecutive monthF
of laying is the greatest long distance
trap-nest record known to the world.
The eggs were all laid in the trap
nest from which they were taken and
official record made.
The thousandth egg was laid in her
fifth year of laying. In the first four
years the hen laid 987 eggs. She had
but thirteen more to lay in order to i
get into the 1000-egg rank, which she
has now laid.
Oregona Is the ancestor of the pen
