HEPPNER, OREGON
THURSDAY, MAY 6
NORTHWEST ROADS.
The Pacific Northwest is rap
Idly acquiring some of the finest
highways in the United States.
Good roads shorten the dis
tance to the market for the
farmers and enhance the value
of the lands they traverse.
Multnomah County, Oregon,
voted for good roads April 14,
when a majority of nearly 14,000
people authorized an issue of
$1,250,000 in bonds to pay for
improving 70 miles of the coun
ty's principal trunk highways
with modern hard-surface pave
ment for permanent use. This
in a year of so-called "basinets
depression."
