Morrow County Fair Dates: Sep
tember 16, 17 and 18.
Father P. J. O'Rourke was a pas
senger for Condon on Monday.
Olaf Bergstrom, Eight Mile farm
er, was trading in Heppner Tuesday.
E. L. Reaaiey and family, of Lex
ington, spent Sunday visiting with
friends in Heppner.
V. W. Cryder. district forester,
went to Pilot Rock on Monday,
whither lie was called on official bus
iness. Karl Beach, of the firm of Beach
Allyn, of Lexington, transacted
business in Heppner a few hours on
Wednesday.
Mrs. E. E. Bleakman, who has so
long and faithfully performed the du
ties of postmistress at Hardman, has
recently been reappointed to that po
sition. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lundell, of
lone, spent the week-end visiting at
the home of their friend. A. W. John
son, near Heppner. They returned
home on Monday.
O. L. Bates, of Hardman, was an
out-going rassenger to Portland on
Monday. He will spend some weeks
visiting in that city and other points
in th Willamette Valley.
Miss Ethel Stevens passed through
Heppner Tuesday on her way to her
liome at Shawmut, Montana, after
visiting for some time with her bro
thers near Hardman.
Mrs. Jean Morris Ellis has been in
Heppner for the past week and deliv
ered her course of lectures to good
audiences at the Christian church.
Mrs. Ellis needs no commendation for
her work, especially before the people
of this town and county where she
has appeared on different occasions
and litis always been well received.
The lectures during the past week
have been up to her usual high stand
ard on subjects that she has spent a
large portion of her lifetime in work
ing up. When she comes this way
again she will be greeted with good
audiences. She is doing a splendid
work.
Hugh Roberts Passes.
Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Roberts arrived
in Heppner on Friday evening last ac
companied by Mr. Robert's son, Hugh
and his family, who have been resid
ing for several years past in Califor
nia, near Chico. The son, who has
been an invalid for years, was in a
very precarious condition upon his
arrival here; in fact it was tnought
quite doubtful if he would survive
the trip from California, and on ar
riving here he was in such a condi
tion that it was impossible to remove
him to the home of his parents near
Parkers Mill, and he died Sunday
night at the Star lodging house. The
body was prepared for burial at the
Case undertaking parlors and inter
ment was made in the family plot at
the graveyard on Eight Mile Tues
day. A wife and child are left to
mourn the untimely departure of the
young husband and father.
Any Chapin. a young farmer of the
Hardman section, was in Heppner on
Friday last attending to business af
fairs. B. E. Blount, a real estate dealer
of Seattle, spent several days in Mor
row county the past week, investigat
ing the farm lands of our section.
Mr. Blount is a man well informed in
his line and has had large experience
in real estate matters the country ov
er. We did not learn of his making
any investments here.
St. Patrick's Day.
The Hibernians have completed
their plans for the due observance
of St. Patrick s Pay. On the evening
of the ltUlv an entertainment will be
given at the Star theater. The enter
tainment will consist of a very
laughable farce entitled "That Ras
cal Pat" which will be produced by
local talent; and besides the farce
there will be vocal solos and recita
tions. On the 17th of March the Hiber
nians will go in a body to St. Pat
rick's Church for the 10:30 Mass.
The sermon on that day will be
preached by Father O'Callaghan of
Hermiston.

By virtue of an execution and or
der of sale issued by the clerk of the
Circuit Court of Morrow County,
State of Oregon, dated the 1st day of
February, 1915, in a suit in said
court wherein S. A. Wright recovered
judgment against Oscar Schafer and
Ethel C. Schafer, his wife, for the
sum of $2300.00 together with inter
est thereon at the rate of 10 per cent
per annum from the 6th day of July,
1906 (less the sum of $230.00 paid
thereon July 8th, 1907 and the fur
ther sum of $230.00 paid thereon
June 25th, 1910.) And the further
sum of $300.00 attorney's fee, the
further sum of $17.92 taxes paid,
with interest thereon at the rate
of 6 per cent per annum from the 4th
day of April, 1913; for the further
sum of $21.92 taxes paid with inter
est thereon at the rate of 6 per cent
per annum from the 18th day of
March, 1914, and costs and disburse
ments taxed and allowed in the sum
of $21.50, which judgment was re
covered on the 30th day of January,
1915.

Heppner, Morrow County, Oregon,
