Why The Youth's Companion Should

"If I could take only one naner

the Supreme Court, "it would be the
Youth's Companion a little of ev
erything in a nutshell, and unbi

provides reading that, without failing
to interest the young, still interests
the mature. It unites young and old
through their common enjoyment of
delightful iiction, agreeable miscel
lany, and the clear exposition of pub

So carefully is it edited, so varied
are its contents, that it would easily
supply a family with entertaining fic

wholesome fun, if no other periodical
entered the house.

FARM FACTS.
Help to organize rural life and
make the country a better place in
which to live.
The problem which confronts the
farmer next in imnortancce to dis
tribution is diversification.
Agriculture has gone through two
thousand years of evolution and is
still in an experimental stage.
Over-production Is the stumbllnir
block, and systematic marketing the
stepping-stone of agriculture.
It s the duty of everv farmer to
see that his wife is supplied with ev
ery equipment to lighten her labors.
To eliminate waste and Inefficien
cy in marketing, the farmer should
keep in close touch with market con
ditions. The problem of marketing is the
biggest business proposition of any
age or nation and one that will re
quire the combined efforts of all the
agencies of civilization to solve. 1

ACCURACY IN GOLF.
Methods Adopted by Ouimet In Ac
quiring His Stroke.
For my own nart I uever have trlpd
to achieve distinction ns a long hitter.
To be successful in onen comnetition
a golfer necessarily must be able to
hold his own fairly well in the matter
of distance. But I have found it pos
sible to do this to a reasonable degree
by trying to cultivate a smooth stroke
and timing it well.
Belns of good heisht almost six feet
and having a moderately full swing,
my club irets a cood sween in its
course toward the ball, so tbat the
point I strive for la to have the club
head moving at its maximum of sneeri
at the moment of Impact with the ball.
1 know I could get greater distance
than I do ordinarily, for now and then
I do try to hit as hard and as far as I
can, with additional yards resulting.
These efforts, however, are made
when there is nothing at stake and are
merely a bit of experimenting. To
make such extra efforts the rule rather
than the exception would be the nlrt
story of sacrificing accuracy for dis
tance, 'me minute a golfer begins do
