Soluble Sulphur Compound
Patents issued Nov. 12, 1912
The Sulphur Tree Spray of To-Day
NOT A NEW THING, BUT A NEW
AND BETTER WAY
IT IS A SULPHUR SPRAY, not an EXPERIMENT. The sulphur
is in the same chemical form as is the sulphur in the lime-sulphur
solution, but being freed from the lime (the lime being found
really detrimental), possesses a higher power, by fourfold, as an in
secticide and fungicide.
SOLUBLE SULPHUR is very penetrating going through and
through all scale and insect crusts; whereas the lime in the lime-sulphur
solution solidifies and neutralizes the sulphur, forming a harm
less crust or coating. Soluble Sulphur does not paste up the surface
of the tree, preventing the normal function of bark and leaves, but
cleans the surface from all such hindrances to tree growth.
SULPHUR has always been recognized as the important ingredient
of spray value in the lime-sulphur sprays. The lime has been per
forming the office of a "necessary" evil: simply an agency for ren
dering the sulphur available.
In Soluble Sulphur the sulphur is rendered available by the use of
a non-injurious element, thereby allowing the sulphur to perform its
work in a fuller and more complete way.
We are not trying to coax you into "trying" a new spray, but we
are offering you the old and tried Sulphur Spray in a form far more
effective, more convenient and less expensive. We furnish you with
the dry materials. You supply the water and make your own solu
tion by simply stirring together for an instant.
We can save you 25 per cent and more on your spray expense.
Will you let us show you? '
In addition to the money saving, there is a saving on the handling
of over 500 pounds, storage, leakage, return of barrel and a lot of
trouble.
SOLUBLE SULPHUR COMPOUND used at 10 pouuds to 50 gal
lons of water (winter strength) is equal in spray value to 33 degrees
lime-sulphur solution used at one gallon of solution to eight gallons
of water.
Thus 100 pounds SOLUBLE SULPHUR COMPOUND added to
500 gallons of water will make 511 gallons of winter spray.
Therefi ire 100 pounds of Soluble Sulphur Compoud will make 61
gallons of nearly 14 nor cent more epray, winter strength, than a50
gallon barrel of lime-sulphur solution.

MORROW COUNTY OFFICIAL PAPER
Thursday. March 26, - 1914
Wm. Hanley of Burns is to
come out as an independent can
didate for United States senator
after the primaries,
It is with regret that we learn
that Jonathan Bourne has decided
not to enter the race for the Re
publican nomination for United
States senator for Oregon. We
have yet to find the man of large
affairs who does not admit that
Mr. Bourne could accomplish
more for Oregon in the senate
than any other citizen of this
state, but if he won't he won't,
and there an end on't His with
drawal leaves a clear field for R.
A. Booth, who will now win the
nomination in a canter. And,
next to Bourne, there is no bet
ter man in Oregon for the job
than Booth. Able, upright, and
a splendid specimen of a Chris
tian gentleman, Robert Booth
will make a senator of whom we
will all feel proud. Fossil Jour
nal.
W. B. Barrett of Heppner ad
vises The Standard that he will
not be a candidate for joint rep
resentative from Umatilla and
Morrow counties, and no other
candidate from Morrow appears
likely to enter, so that R. N,
Stanfield of Pendleton will have
no competitor. Mr. Stanfield is
an able man of keen sagacity and
his record at the last session of
the legislature was of splendid
credit, to himself and his con
stituents, Stanfield Standard.
This is a true statement of Mr.
Barratt's position, and it is to be
regretted. Morrow county is cer
tainly entitled to a representa
tive, but the political situation
does not Seem right to Mr. Bar
ratt to enter the race, so the field
is left open to Mr. Stanfield at
present. As to his qualifications
for the place, this paper is not
ready to agree altogether with
the above statement Men of
his stripe should be left at home;
and we believe the people of Uma
tilla county know this much bet
ter than we do over this way.
"Upwards of 200 gallons of
cream per week is shipped out of
Heppner. Portland, The Dalles
and Hermiston are the consum
ing markets. This would indi
cate that there is an opening for
a small creamery, assuming that
the business might be developed
to justify increased outbound
shipments in addition to the home
supply." This is the statement
of Wm. McMurray, of the 0. W.
R. & N. Co. in a report to the
Colonization and Industrial Bur
eau of the Union Pacific system
at Omaha, under date of March
14. This recognizes the fact that
there is an opening for a small
creamery here. Our people are
beginning to see this, also, and
are giving support in a liberal
way to the proposition now be
fore them. The dairy industry
in Morrow county is not yet fairly
started, but it is destined to be
one. of the big things, and a
creamery at Heppner is going to
' bring it up to a point of a leading
(industry before many seasons
1 pass into history.

The hearty co-operation of the
citizens of the community and
the expressed desire to place the
sport on the highest plane possi
