meeting.
Edgar Ball is to have a tele
phone installed in his home in the
near future.
Charley Anderson has been re
pairing the telephone line between
his place and lone.
John Williams returned from
Portland the 5th where he has
been visiting his brother.
John Williams went to Port
land several days ago to visit his
brother who resides in that city.
Fairview and Gooseberry are
both having a rabbit hunt, after
which they will each give a sup
per. M. R. Ball and family have re
turned from Portland where they
enjoyed several days visit with
relatives.
Ture Peterson returned from
Portland the 5th. He has been
visiting friends and relatives in
that city.
The Fairview school has bought
a new dictionary, a globe and a
map with the proceeds from the
box social given some time ago.
Ralph Akers is making a pro
fitable improvement in the line
of a hog-tight fence. He is fen
cing about 50 acres for hog pas
ture. Lydia and Francis Griffin have
returned from Portland where
they have visited with friends.
We hope their trip was one filled
with pleasure and sight-seeing.
We are having nice open wea
ther now and many of our indus
trious farmers who have plowing
to do are taking the opportunity
this good weather is affording
and are plowing.
This is now a new year, a new
beginning, and it is our opportu
nity to begin a new record, a
record which will show that we,
at the close of this new year, will
have improved our opportunities
to do good; that we will have
brought sunshine intoother lives;
a record which will show that we
will have been true to our con
science, and have overcome temp
tations which would have led us
into wrong. Let us keep this
clean, spotless record, this new
beginning, untainted and un-
soiled till the close of the year,
that we may look back when the
year is gone and see something
done that has really been worth
while, that we may see where
we have been victor over the
wrong and that we are better
men and women because of our
new year resolutions.
Our cattle are branded with

will pay $200 reward for informa
tion which will lead to arrest and
conviction of anyone stealing our
