Your confidence is what
Studebaker seeks to keep
Possessing this confidence, we have never
tried to produce a cheap wagon. We could, but
we don't dare try the experiment. Our constant
aim has been to produce the best wagon.
And in living up to this highest standard, we have
won and hold the confidence and good -will of
hundreds of thousands of farmers all over the world.
Studebaker wagons are built to last, to do a day's
work every day, to stand up under stress and strain
and to make the name Studebaker stand for all
that is best in vehicles.
Don't accept any other wagon represented to be
just as good as a Studebaker. The substitute may be
cheaper, but it isn't up to Studebaker standards, and
you can't afford to buy it.
For luiiness or pleasure, there it a SluJcbaker vehicle
suited to your requirement. Farm wagons, truck, business wagons,
surreys, buggies, runabouts, pony carriages each the best of its
kind. , Harness also of the same high Studebaker standard.

HOT LAKE HAS
CHANGED HANDS
Dr. G. W. Tape, Its Form
er Manager, Now in
Charge.
Hot Lake in Union County, one of
the favorite resorts of Eastern Ore
gon, and renowned for the healing
qualities of its waters, has recently
changed management. A syndicate
aasumed control on Monday, June
16th, aud Dr. G. W. Tana, -who was
formerly in charge, again assumes the
position of manager. Since leaving
Hot Lake in 1904, he has had charge
of Arrowhead Springs in Southern
California, bnt was induced to return
to Oregon. The entire institution
will he renovated, necessary altera
tions made, and especial attention
paid to those who desire to avail
themsevles of the waters. Ihere
medicinal value has been thoroughly
established. Those who are not
afflicted with any ailment, but who
simply desire to rest and enjoy the
freedom of country life, will find the
hotel a desirbale place. Tbe rooms
are large with all modern couve&itiu
ces, the grill supplied with the best
in the market. There is a 1 irge lobbv
wide glassencrspd porches hillard and
poll tables, cud rooocs and large
dancing hall. No bar is maintained
and no liquor sold on the premises
Hot Lake is situated directly on the
main line of the O-W. R. & N. in
Union County. It (s easy of access
and in addition to the excel!e-t waters
and the comforts of the hotel offers
such sports as hunting and fishing to
those who card to go afield cr follow
a stream.
Under the new management, Hot
Lake will at once become as popular
as formerly with the people who reed
treatment for some ailmpnt and with
those who simply want a phce to rest
from their Lusiness or household
duties.
Oregon Bankers Will Reg
ulate Fraudulent Land
Dealers.
Children Cry for Fletcher'!
That would-be settlers coming: to
Oregou have, in manv instances, been
victimized by unscrupulous land spec
ulators and that the state as a whole
has been injured by their operation,
s a statement made at the annual
convenion of Oregon bankers recently
at Corvallis and the attending dele
gates expresied a determination to co
operate with the commercial bodies
throughout the state in an effort to put
greedy real estate men cut of business.
The plan does not contemplate h
entire elimination of land selling
gencies, but does propose to annihi-
ate the sharks who have been spscu-
latintr in good Oregon soil taking it
nt of production and holding it for
n unreasonable increase in nirce.
It was decided to form an appraise
ment committee in each community to
pass on the prices of lands, the com
mittee to consist of two members of
he local commercial bedv aud the
banker, and intruding purchasers will
be advised to purchase no real estate
from any dialer until the value of
same has been passed upon oy the
ppraisers and the price asked decided
to be a rensonanle one. It was stat
us a fact that much of the agricul
tural land in Oregon is held at too
gh a figure. There is doubtless
pleuty of good land which can be ob
tained at a fair price but the new
comer, usuallly unfamiliar with local
values and conditions, seldom hears
of that lard. The committee will see
that he gets a square deal.
Oregon is likely to become the cen
ter of a great fishii.g industry within
tbe aenr future if the investigations
of tne Government confirms the report
of extensve halibut banks off the coast
of Lincoln county. A large number
of launches are now being fitted out
at Newport on Yaquina Bav for the
purpose of exploiting these recently
discovered banks, and those which
have already started operations are
returning to port with capacity loads
of splendid fish. Tlia extent of the
banks is stated to be sufficient to sup
ply the Pacific Northwest with fish
fot years to onme.
Under a joint agreement of the
Southern Pacifio and Santa Fe rail
roads ft is announced that a new rail
road will be built along the Oregon
coast, construction to begin at the
present northern terminus of the
Northwestern Pacific line at Sherwood,
Cal. The road will be built up the
coast to Myrtle Point in Coos County
and will then proceed op the valley
of the Rogue River, connecting with
the Southern Pacific main line at
Grants Pas. It is stated that work
will begin this present summer.
To the Pacific Northwest goes the
honor of providing a man to head the
American Association of Nurserymen
for the coming year. The convention
of tbe association held in Portland
last week was the first meeting of the
organization ever held west of the
Rocky Mountains and at its fiual bus
iness session Friday morning J. B.
Pilkington of Portland was unani
mously elected president.
