Think what that announcement means to typewriter users! Here
you have typewriter insurance something you have never before
been able to buy and this insurance costs you nothing; in fact,
it saves you money!
Wiih this bi money saving:, you deal with an organization that is
willing to stake unlimited resources on its claims and on its machine.
These are the powerful facts that have led large concerns every
where, and important departments of the United States Government,
to adopt the Royal. For the same reason YOU should at least
investigate it, and by all means learn about the new improvements.

Attracting Good Farmers.
A splendid foundation has been laid
by the State Iiuminrution Commission
in the work of attracting farmers to
Oregon from the countries of Northern
Europe A series of ornferenres with
German, Norweigian, Swedish and
Danish people has resulted in outlin
ing the work to he accomplished and
in securing the complete co-operation
of substantial people of these various
nationalities now resident here.
Committees formed of members of
the different races will woik with the
Immigration Commission iu seeking
out satiable lands for colonization
purposes, gecumig Ihem at reasonable
price and aiding the new comers after
they are Bottled. Judeing from the
success that has attended the prelim
inary work much may be expected
from this organized effort to settle
Oregon's idle farming lands.

For Better Babies.
More interest is helna shown in
eugenics, the science of growing per
fect babies, throughout the state since
the first eucenics show was held last
vear at the State Fair. The first test
if babies has just been held by the
Parents' Educational Bureau, of Port
land, and this promises to become a
regular institution. Babies are given
a careful soientfiie examination and
defects pointed out to parents with
instructions as to how they may be
overcome. Parents who intend inter
ing youngsters in the coming shows
next Fall find these preliminary test
helpful.

That the Willamette Valley is the
one section of the United Stats that
can raise sheep equal to those of
England was the statement made by
Prof. Thos. Shaw, agricultural expert
for the Great Northern Railway, in a
recent talk at Salem. He also said
that here in this state conditions are
such that pork can be produced for
less cost than is the casi in the corn
belt of the Middle West, while butter
can be produced for 50 per cent less
than in New England. Prof. Shaw
! insitg that the Oregon farmer is. as
a rule, neglecting his opportunities.
