Palmateer, J. A. Troedson and Ernest Lundell all have their threshing machines running full blast these days. We get all sorts of re ports on the average yield and from what we can find oat it is making from 15 to 18 bushels per acre. W. J. Blake letf on Monday morn ing for Billings, Montana, where he will try to purchase some beef cattle for home consumption. It seems too bad that as much idle land as we have in this county of ours, that we must send clean out of existance to get a few cattle. Albert Shaver, after spending sev eral days renewing old acquaintances, returned to the viainity of the Des- hutes where he is engaged in the well drilling business. He was accompan ied by his brother, Ross who has been layed no for some time with a brok en limb. We wish both of the boys every success. We were aroused from our regular routine of business about noon on Monday bv the loud peals of the fire bell and of course we all tried to break our neck to see who could pull the hardest on the hose cart.
