A STRICTLY CASH MARKET
The Kit Carson Wild West show
came to Heponer on Monday and save
two performances, afternoon and eve
a'nci. It was heralded as one of the
b'gsest performances going bnt actu
ally Heppner people can witness J'Jst
abou as sood "wild west" stunts
most any day as we were given. At
any rate this part of the performance
was nothing to excite people of this
section. The show carries some good
performers on the trapeze and slack
wiie, and has a eood band. It aUo
had with it a fall qaota of fakirs,
evtnto the fellow who caught the
suckers bv worgiog the old, familiar
shell (rame. This gme was worsed
openly and permitted to be done, be
cause of the unsophisticated nature of
the nffioials standing about and watcb-
nsr the peifoimance. The officials
are not to blame, of course, for allow
ing men, and young hovs also, to be
fleeced, as they did not understand the
nature of the game and regarded it
evidently as a little innocewt pastime
However, there is a law giost such
games, and we are of the opinion that
should any one of onr own citizens
attempt to work such a steal -'in onr
midst he would be ran in promptly,
as he should be, and there is no rea
son for allowing a gang of outsiders
to violate the law with impunity.
