Thursday, June 27 1912
It would eeem that about all that
was necessary to be said, was epokon
in our last issue coucernirg the new
ischoolbouae bond i-sue. However,
there Is one point that was not
toucher upon, and as there has been
considerable made of it this week we
eive room hre to a statement from
Mr. E. F. Day, from whom the
Directors now have nn option for the
piece of land on the fiat where it is
pronosed to locate the new building.
Mr. Day's statement is clear and
needs no comment from this paper.
It follows:
Htpuner, Ore.. June 27. 1912.
To the District School Board of School
District No. 1, Morrow County,
Oreaon: Gentleman:
I am informed that statements are
being circulated to the effect that I
have otfered tosfll the Diopeuy now
offered to the District as a school'
site, to private individual. for a sum
considerable less than the price now
made to the District.
Some twentv or more years aeo,
when a site was beirg selected for the
old school bui'ding I was willirg to
sell this propf-rty to the District for
$1200.00. I considered this much less
than the value of the property, but
was anxious at that time to see the
old building located cn this site.
Since then I have hili the property at
S250.00 per lot or $a230.0, for the
eleven lots, but still believing this
is the rjrooer location for Heppner's
School buildings I n.ado a price to
the Board of $1300.00, for the two
Slocks, containing eleven lots.
Any and all statements to the effect
that 1 have offered the prooerty for a
less figure than above stated in the
last fifteen years are absolurely false
and manufactured out of wholn clQth
iv individuals sees ina to defeat the
onstruotion of a new school building
in Heppner.' ,
Respectfully yours
E. b DAY.
Feel Grateful.
