Mrs. Cochran, of Condon, who has
been visiting here for some time left
for her home last Tuesday morning.
John Cochran made a pretty good
haul on his last coyote hunt. He was
only gone a few days and came home
with 44 of the keen eyed rascals.
Raich Hymer is carrying hia arm
in a silng these days, suffering from a
broken wrist received Sunday before
last while playing ball at Cecil.
Mr. and Mrs. Dr. A. Reid formerly
of lono but now located at Stanfield
came in on Saturday evening's train,
and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.
O. Kincaid.
W. II . (Jronk and family, also S. E.
Moore and family left lone last Sun
day morning. We did not learn
where they were going, but they were
on their way.
We had quite a lively run-a-way
in town Monday morning when J. Cal-
ain's team ran of. He had four
horses on the wagon and they spilled
things some but did no damage.
Joe Cronan is enjoying a visit from
his father and mother and three
brothers. They came out from iNe
biaska. arriving here Thursday of
last week. We hope Mr. Cronau and
his family will be favorably impress
ed with our fine Oregon climate ard
be tempted to stay with us.
The Shadow social held in the Wil
mot building last Friday evening was
a jolly affair. While the attendance
was not what it bad ought to have
been-, a good time was in store for all
present. After the shadows were
auctioned off, young and old took their
respective pardners and feasted on the
contents of the well billed baskets.
All went home with their bread bas-
kels full, realizng that a pleasant
evening had been well spent.

are not picked up every day.
U. E. Baker one of our prosperous
farmers north of lone received the
sad news of hia father's death last
Monuday. Mr. Baker left Tuesday
for Missouri to attend the funeral.
We see Bert Mason, also Dr. Chick,
sporting new sots of harness these
davs. this fine spring weather me.kes
a lot of us feel like fixign up our
horse with a new set of harness and
getting out to view the growing crops.
LEXINGTON.
Mrs. E. S. Duran was a Heppner
Lvisitor Saturday returning on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ward are visiting
Mrs. Watd's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Munkers.
Mrs. Ruber. t Wilcox was a Heppner
visitor Saturday to have some dental
work done.
Mrs. Rowena Gentry has been sick
for a week with neuralgia in her head.
She is some better.
Mr. Reade, pastor of the Congre
gational church, is in Portland this
week; doctoring for an abscess on his
cheeE.
Miss Merrial Reed and Miss Elsie
Allen were lone visitors on Satnrday

On account of the most of the peo
ple being very busy with their soring
work , election day on Friday , the 19th ,
was veiy quiet.
Rev. Father O'Rouike, of Hecpner,
came to Lexington Saturday morning
and held services in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Bresheara. Rev. O'Roinkc
visited his parisheners riurirg the diy
going back to Hecpr.or in the evi ring.
As Friday was a holiday, Miss Edna
Carmichael came down from Hit
mountains where she is teaching
school, to visit her pirents over Sat
urday. When she returned on Sun
dav evening Miss Merle accompanied
her as far as Heppner.
The bridge and, building outfits who
have been on the side track at Lex
ington for the past two weeks left for
Morgan Monday morning. During
their stav here the men built some
steps at the end of the depot platform.

The Davis boys rode for Mr. Deos
on Wednesday helping him get his
stork in the pasture as someov had
left his fence down.

S. E. Notson, our county superin
tendent, was with ns last Wednesday
n'ght and gave tiie children a very
nice time with his lautern. We are
always glad to have him come.
Mr. Moses and two other gentlemen
were in town last wetk and they are
greatly pleased with our part of the
coutny. The hopes of our res'denta
for the future of this part of the
county are ascending high.

Mrs. C. W. Caldwell returneifrom

Rev. Emmel. Methodist pastor at

Election passed off quickly here.
Mr. Peter Saubert was entrusted to
deliver the ballots to the county seat.
Mrs. W. G. Corey returned from
Umatilla where she had been a few
dava visiting her son Henry who is
employed there.
Frank Dohle and Earl Rand wore
elected delegates to the State S. S.
Convention at Pendleton. Eve Doble
and Walter Caldwell were elected
alternates.

We are all holding onr breath for
the next two weeks as it is in that

feel safe about the crop. It looks all
OK yet and is making good progress.
