MOSyCITOS IN JANUARY
Wjfif have all been told many times
that there are no snakes in Iceland.
Likewise we have mostly been under
tlie impression that thi'e are no mos
quitos running around loose in Hcpp
ncr during the winter months. Joe
Snyder tells us differently, however,
end Joe is well known as a model
citizen, a kind husband and father
and as registering around 100 per
cent for average truthfuless.
The other evening, in Oonty's the
talk drifted around from snow storms
to the swilUing of flies and then,
naturally the mosquito question came
up. It was then Joe told his story:
"I was helping cut ice up On Gowin's
pond one time," he cornmenetd, "and
as soon as we would lift a cake of ice
from the pond a flock of line, big
mosquitos would fly out of the
water and float around on the zero
zephyr."
"Were they real mosquitos?" ask
ed Gouty .interested.
"Sure they were real mosquitos,"
replied Joe, "just tho same as you
see flying around in July and August
only that they did not have their
biters on."
"That will be about all for you
today," warned Gonty, as he picked
up a heavy iron last and balanced it
in his good right hand.
