At a recent meeting of the Pitts
burgh Chamber of Commerce Thom
as A. Dunn, a director of the cham
ber severely criticised Senator Poin-
iexter of the State of Washington for
taking advantage of the ciiebnuion
of Constitution-Day in Pittsburg!), at
which lie delivered an uddresr. and
which had for its theme: "The Con
stitution," but which degenerated in
to a harangue ..gainst t".ie league el
Nations and the President ef'the
I'nitt'd States. Director Dunn said
that never again would the chamber
submit to such an outrage. A lead
ing paper of the city had said that
Senator Poindexter indulged in snip
ing the President of the United
States. Mr. Dunn said this perform
ance was in exceedingly bad taste,
and he did not think it would ever
again be permitted. Eastern Ex-

UNPROFITABLE AS
WROXCJ
WELL AS
It is unprofitable as well as wrong
to borrow your neighbor's newspaper
as the following from the Sebree
(Ky.,) Banner very clearly proves:
A man who was too stingy to sub
scribe for his home paper sent his
little boy to borrow the copy taken
by a neighbor. In his 'haste the boy
ran over a $4 stand of bees and in
ten minutes looked like a warty sum
mer squash. His father ran to his
assistance, and failing to notice the
barb wire fence ran into that, cut
ting a hole in his anatomy and ruin
ing a $5 pair of trousers. The old
cow took advantage of the gap in the
fence and got into the corn field and
killed herself eating green corn
Hearing a racket, the wife ran out,
upset a four-gallon churn full of
cream Into a basket of little dhlck-
ens, drowning the entire hatch. In
her haste she dropped a $35 set of
false teeth. The baby, having been
left alone, ruined a brand-new $2 5
carpet. During the excitement the
oldest daughter ran away with the
hired man, the dog broke up 11 set
ting 'hens and the calves got out and
chewed the tails off four fine shirts
on the clothes lino.
