'The Mountain Wait" was played
at Santlam Academy Monday evening,
to a full house, nottritlistaudlng the
fact that a performance at the opera
house was billed for the same evening.
The characters were all well acted.
Miss Addle Cook was. a very pleasant
"Mountain Waif." Miss Mabel Car
son, as Dolly Wilbur, showed much
ability. Miss Hatlle Cox made a
model parson's wife, and was equal to
the occasion. "Verily," George Han
dle was a very discreet old parson for
the time being. Herbert Simpson
transformed himself Into a "heavy vil
lain" of the most villainous character,
but in the last act again became a
worthy citizen. Charles Ross was a
weally" nice little dude. Henry
Smith impersonated a characteristic
miner of the "wild west," and dis
played much ability. John Kellen
berger carried out his part as the
German proprietor of the "Miner's
Roost" hotel, and also sheriff, lo
perfection. George Ross was a typical
Irishman from the "ould sod." Dol.
Boslar, as a detective, did very well,
Ed. Umphrey, impersonating "a
plucky New-Yorker," was not behind
tbe others in acting. John Barrett
played the part of a "crook" in a very
creditable manner.
The make-ups were all right, and
'didn't need any flxin'."
We believe that when the club pre
sents any play to the Lebanon people
they will again be greeted by a large
audience.
Deafness Cannot be Cured.
By local applications, as they cannot reach the
diseased portion of the ear. There is only one
way to cure deafness, and that is by constitu
tional remedies. Deafness is caused by an In
flamed condition of the mucous lining of the
Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed
you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing,
and when it Is entirely closed deafness is the re
sult, and unless the inflammation can be taken
ont and this tube restored to its normal condition,
hearing will be destroyed forever; nine cases out
of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing
but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces.
We will give One Hundred Dollars tor any case
of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be
cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars,
free.
