THE ELECTION.
The recent election shows the
usual reaction that always follows
presidential election. This re
lation is a trifle graater than usu
ally occurs. The republicans have
been more generally victorious. It
ia undoubtedly a republican suc
cess brought about by the wide
dissatisfaction with the way in
erhich the democrats bave been
trifling with the money question,
and helped by the local fights be
tween democratic landers, as for
instance in New York. There is
one feature of the election in New
York, which will be received gener
ally with satisfaction. The defeat

lireme judge, on the democratic
ticket, was a just and merited re
buke to the anti-Cleveland men.
