zenship. A dispatch from Piiuama, via Gal
veston, dated Jan. 23, reads as follows:

Geo. Flnley, of Crawfordsville, Linn
county, and several other residents of
that section were here this week on
business before the U. 8. Land Office.
It seems that they filed on land with
in the indemnity grant and are now

of her popular lectures at the Frst Pres

spoken of very highly wherever she
goes, as a gifted lecturer. Everybody
come and hear for yourself. The ladies
are especially Invited lo meet her at
2:30 In the afternoon, at the name place.

sermon Is especially intended for the

Brownsville, were in town the first of
the week putting up a sample Vibra
ting gate, for which they have the
oouity right for Linn county. The
gate is now on exhibition on J. M.
Ralstou's lot opposite the bank. This
gate is superior to any we ever saw and
we have heave heard great many
farmers say the same thing about it.
P. W, Morgan has been secured as
their local ..gent at this place.
A log chute ut tyool ereek, Klamath
oounty, Is a mile long. The logs tra
verse that distance iu about 16 seconds,
and theeye can scarcely follow them.
Three cars are nov running to the
ohute, and 800 logs per day are shot
into the river. Twenty men are driv
ing 1,700,000 feet of Ions down the
Klamath from the foot of the log grade.
They have moved them a distance of
four miles by doing some blasting, and
it U'iw looks as though the log driving
venture oil the Klamath w'll be a per
fect success.
