reference to riding bicycles on the
roads, and on pleading guilty was
fined $10 and cost, a total of $19. The
offence happened a couple weeks ago'

Mr Geo. Alexaneer formerly of the
Express left Wednesday for Eugene
his old home. He contemplates buy
ing an interest in the Browmsville
Times, and in that event will locate
there.
Tuesday's Albany Democrat says:
This forenoon a very delicate and
skillful operation was performed by
Dr. Maston, assisted by Drs. Davis and
Kelly, at the residence of Hon. L. H
Montanye in the removal of a ten
pound overariou tumor from Mrs.
Anrilla Combs, of Eugene. Mrs. Combs
is doing as well as cau be expected,
with fair prospects of recovery.
It is asserted that the men arrested
and brought back from Bntte Montana
as the supposed murders of Mr. Bar
bour, are not the rirht men. The
police authorities, at Portland, seem
reticent when asked as to the evidence
against the men. but claim to have a
good deal, which will be forthcoming
at the examining trial on 19th lust.
Mrs. Barbour will not go east until
after that date, we are informed.
Yesterday morning Mrs. Rebecca F
Jones, and her daughter Sarah J oiks
a middle-age woman, who have been
residing in the sou rt hern suburbs of
the city, were taken before Judge
Blackburn, and a board of examining
physicians, consisting of Drs. G- W.
Maston and J. P. Wallace, and were
declared insane and taken to the asy
lum at Salum. They have been a ter
ror to the neighlmrhood and had used
insulting and abusive language in a
public manuer uutil it became unbear

erly lived in Lebanon and are known
to many of the people here.

Monday night last a farewell scoial

the long-looked for farm that suit
ed Mr. D. to a T., and closed the
trade at once.

Fully eight hundred people were In
our little city last Sunday.
Blore than twenty lots have been
sold, to di ire rent parties, during the
week by Mr. Barzee. This Insures,

to be filled with desirable families.
A company has been organized con
sisting of several capitalists of this
place and Albany, for the purpose
of building a mnter line from this
point to Lebanon. This ts no foolish
ness, hut a sure go. A party of five
men accompanied the surveyor from
here this morning, (Wednesday) to
locate the line. Sodaville has made
more pro press during the last mouth,
than the twelve months proceeding it
and all our citizens are jubilant over
brighter prospects.
Mr. Barzee has commenced active
operation on his new house, which
will be puilt in the Hill addition.
The lumber Ison the ground, and the
house will be pushed to completion as
rapidly aspossiblc. This lathe begin
ntng of many more that will be built
soon.
Dr. J. L. Hill and lady, of Albany
were on our streets on Saturday and
Sunday last.
A number of people went to Water
loo to attend the baptismal exercise at
that place yesterday.
A new summer house is under
course of construction, at the spring,
under the management of Mr. Al Par
rish. Mr. H. D. Klum has his boarding
house running again.
Mr. Hareman hits several boarders
from a distance already. The hotels
soon be filled.
The new drug store building is
nearly completed and is now receiving
the paint. Mr. Roberts the occupant
elect, will soon take posesuion.
