sums for choice animala should estimate
the intrreased value due to improvement,
for a aingle (mason, of the young stock.
Sueh a calculation will show that, if the
flock or herd is large, the gain of the
stock will be greater than the cost of a
male or anv of the thoroughbred breeds.
It is consequently economical to improve,
and the farmer who doea not do so is
really extravagant, aa he deprives him
self of the advantages of better stock,
higher prices, and larger profits, without
any increase in the expenses of food and
labor.
