adopted.. They then elected Chan.

Friday night there wes a grand hall

morning several carriages and hacks,

was in charge of the rigs, and spared

one. Heal Rock is situated about ten

delightful day. The, only thing that
happened to mar the pleasure of the
1 1 ip was that one of the boys fell out
of i.'irt carriage and broke his bottle.
On returning to Newport the tug took
ii- out over the bar, but the sea was

home. Most of the party utoppcd at
Corvallis on an invitation of the
president of tho college to visit the
Agricultural College at that place.
Most of the time the weather was good
and the bay looKed lino. Extensive
preparations had been mode for our
entertainment, and all enjoyed a
pleasant time.

energy returns thauKs for the ex
tremely pleasant and profitable time
that has been enjoyed at this session,
to the citizens of Newport and Yamu
na City ; also to Captain 11. A. Han
sell, J. W. Brasiield and Dr. J. K.
Bailey for their active personal ell'orts.
Also to the Oregon Pacit'm railroad for
their liberality in placing not only a
free transportation, but a apoeial car
for the use of the Association and
their boats on the bay for viewing
points of interest. Also Mr. Polhemus,
engineer fn charge of the government
worKs, for favors extended.
Thus ended the third annual meet
ing of the Oregon Press Association
successful ami highly pleasing. The
next session will be held in Portland
on the second Thursday and Friday of
August, FS'JO.
