(Jholera in Japan.
Some history of cholera in Japan has
recenily been published by tha Director
of the Sanitary Bureau for the Em
pire. Acs-ordinff to this authority
cholera is known to have appeared in
Japan in 1822, commencing "at Naga
saki, the only port then open to foreign
commerce; and at the same time the
disease is known to have prevailed in
China. Another epidemic took place
in 1858, bnt no statistical information
is available as to either of these out
' breaks. But since the empire has been
freely open to foreign vessels cholera
has been much more frequent. It
entered in 1876. and in 1877 it caused
7,907 deaths. The next epidemic was in
1879, when 105,786 fatal attacks were
recorded. After this there was a cessa
tion nntil 1885, during the course of
which 7,152 deaths occurred, and the
disease has extended into the present
year. Cholera is admitted to be, in
Japan as elsewhere, generally associat
ed with the prevalence of local filth, and
great efforts are being made by the
Sanitary Bureau to effect improvements

A dairy expert suggests that the
proper way to dry off a cow as the end
of her milking season approaches is
not to gradually eeaso milking her,
but to keep on milking the cow just
as you had been, but slop her food;
not starve her down, but give her the
kind of food that makes more flesh
than milk and give her only a little of
it, just enough to keep her m good
condition.

Remember, we guarantee the J. I. Case "Agitator" the test and fastest thresher made, and are ready to prove it. Ia It not

is in danger of being ruined, and you are at heavy expense for operating? "
Remember, your whole dependence ia upon yonr crop proceeds, and if you endanger it hy experimenting with new-fangled
machines, you do so at great loss to yourself. We insure you against all these possible evils with our J. I. Case Agitator which
