Webb, the tem orary officers of this convention were declared the permanent ofllcers. Col. George Woodford, of Illinois, being present was then invited to ad dress the convention, and entertain ed the convention for half an hour with some eloquent and encouraging words, encouraging the progress of the temperance cause. On motion, a vote of thanks was unanimously tendered Col. Woodford for his address. Report of committee on credentials was read recommending that Dr. U. F. Crawford and D. P. Porter were enti tled to seats in this convention, was adopted, P.H.Webb moved that a commit tee of three be appointed to nominate an executive committee. Peter Hume of Brownsville, moved to amend by adding the name of t lie president to such committee. Motion prevailed. The president appointed A. M.Ac-he-son, Peter Hume ajid B. II. Irvine as such committee. The chairman called R. Robe to the chair. Moved by A. M. Acheson, and car ried, that the committee appointed to nominate an executive committee, be requested to report in ten minutes. On motion of F. M. Miller, the fol lowing resolution was adopted : Jicohcd, That the editors of the State Riffht Democrat and the Jlcr-ald-Dirxainator ! requested, if not inconsistent with their views, to sup port the pending prohibitory amena Hient. The committee appointed to appoint an executive committee, submitted the following report: Your committee appointed to nomi nate an executive committee, would respectfully report the following names: Rev. News of the murder spread rapidly, and a crowd gathers! around the house, and the search for Kelty began. Coronor ICirpatriek was called and held an inquest, and the verdict of the jury was in accordance with the fore going facts. People sympathize entirely with the woman, and nothing but Kelty's rc sXftable connection and hitherto good reputation save .his neck.
