County Fair Draw« Near
Missionaries Visit
Ia*onard Gilkey, manager of the
Linn county fair, and Mr. Davis,
superintendent of the livestock ex
hibit. were in Scio last Thursday,
coming here to interest some of
our best stockmen in the exhibit.
To many of our readers, the live
stock show is of greatest Interest,
as this is a dairv community, but in
one line of the livestock industry in
this community we are probably not
much acquainted. It ia the horse.
Those who know, say that Mr. Burge
and Mr. Ruby are to meet, in the
near future, a coming rival in the
person of Guy Funk, who ia gather
ing sound himself as fine specimens
of draft horses as the eye could wish
and the heart desire, and we under
stand he will take a string to the
county fair. While Mr Funk has
not rought publicity heretofore, it
is because of his retiring disposition
and a desire to be fully ready when
the proper time arrived.
Others in this community who are
eligible to entry in the livestock ex
hibit are: H (). Iljermstad. with
his fine herd of Ayrshire cattle; Sid
Stringer and the S. B. Holt Farm,
with their herds of Jerseys; R. R-
Borovicka. with his Holsteins; and
in chickens, there is the Trollinger
Bros., II. O. Iljermstad. Sid String
er. R«*x Peery. Mrs. J. H. Johnston;
and Dr. S. C. Browne and Thomas
Smail with their silver-black foxes.
Rev A. G. Siegle and family of
Siam, China, are visiting at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Mylo Bartu.
The ladies are sisters.
Rev. Siegle, who is a m - >i .»ry

Sunday morning and evening to large

Rev. Siegle and family expect to
sail on October third for Siam, to
continue their work.
Yes. sir, we have enough in this
community for a county fair, and if
all the above exhibit at the county
fair there will be some exhibit sure
enough.
Ix*o Zeller has taken space in exhi
bits building st the fair, and he and
his neighbors in the Gilkev neigh
borhood are going to compete with
the rest of the county. Atta boy.
Leo, and we hope you win.
The fair runs four days, commenc
ing on Tuesday. Sept. 22.
Next Monday Is Holiday
Next Monday is Labor Day. and

door on the Chrisman farm as the
target, and in some manner while
in (he hands of I^rle, the gun was
accidentally discharged and Otto
was shot in the face, neck and shoul

skull and the loss of some teeth.
Dr Prill was called and he .took him
tn a h» spit al in Altranv, where on
Monday sixteen shots were removed
from the head of the injured man

\n X ray examination revealed the
fact that no shots are in vital or

No blame is attached, as the men
are the beat of friends, and wit-

accidental. Aside from Otto's «uf-
