Since June I the mail service in
Sei«» has been rotten, and it ia not >
the fault of Postmaster Stlcha - he

the p-xtoffice department ia giving
the peonie of thia community.
Like a bdlt of lightning from a
clear »ky word was received here
lut week that only mail outside of
Unn county would be forwarded
once a day morning» and the af
ternoon train would carry no papers.
Thia leaves 8cio without an after
noon paper.
Why this raw deal?
On April 15 Increased postal rates
went into effdet to care for deficits
and grant greater servir*, and in
I less than two months the service is
cut in two. To be sure. Scio is not
a large city, but the mail received
and forwarded each day. would do
credit to a town much larger.
Then why thia rotten deal?
The morning mail is heavy, and
the afternoon mail light. How docs
the department figure it is helping
the rural districts by curtailing mail
xt vic«? is th« move made to force
people into congested areu. or in
the interest of radio companies? The
idea of government ia to torve the
people, and jiut now in this section
there are several thousand people
without adequate mall service.
Why. Mr. Postmuter General?
Crabtree. Iz-lxnon and Shelburn
are receiving the Mme rotten ser
vice. and like Scio, are entitled to
»etter treatment. From Sdo, th«
only mail that can be sent out in
the afternoon is to Crabtree. Leba-
