ury to the boya who gave their bio*>d
in 1776, in 1861, In 1898 and in
1917. It ia in memory of those «till
living, who have become bent with
year», who are either left nhvaieal
wreck* or maimed for life. It ia in
memory of these that we ahould
pause during thia day and lift our
hata and bow our heada for them.
It ia in a measure the flag going by,
the rechriatening of the nation to
ita cauae of freedom and upholding
of the integrity of ita manhood. T<
thia end we ahould comply with the
proclamation of our preaident ami
governor and commemorate the
deeda of the valiant dead and living
On tomorrow, inatead of passing
the day in frivoluua pleasure, we
ahould lake atock of the preaent day

boya fought for. We ahould bear
in mind that moral force» are at

onlv eternal vigilance will abate.

ing personal liberties that lead ua
to the jails? Are we cautioning
those of our friend» who ar* break­
ing the law» againat auch carrying*-
on? Do we do our duty when aerv-
in iurie* and try the cases according
to law and evidence and not accord­
ing tu our i>wn version aa to the
merits or demerit* of the law?
Tomorrow let’* pay homage to
the fallen heroea and rededicate

for which they fought, bled and

In a lengthy writeup of the ball
game here last Sunday between Al­
bany and Scio, the Albany Democrat
showed Ita aportsmanship t>y ma­
liciously attacking the local team
and the Scio fan* because of their
remonstrance againat the game be­
ing stolen by the Albany Umpire.
