Also w ith agricultural products, th«- farmer can

On each day of the fair an a<ldr»

The N ews suggests that a preliminary fair
organization should at once l>e formed, by a call
for a public nus-ting to which all who feel inter
ested in establishing a di tr < t fair i <>uld I m - in
vited to be present. At which time a plan could
h<t devised, by w hich -< ifticiei.t funds can be ip-
plied for the dcsin*<l pi rj- -•
Probably th«- better plan would be t»lease for a
term of years about 40 acres of ground, or if
deemed best buy the tract outright. Then during
the coming winter, when labor is lack, the nt< <
sary fencing and building could l»e done.
The Ix-st plan the N ews has in mind to raise
funds is to sell certificates of life membership in
the society, at $20 each. It is lx-liev«sl that fnnn
lint to 150 of th«-><- ci rtificat< ■> can I m - sold <-i i>,

exhibits, conces nous on the grounds, gat« re

Nothing could tend towanls the building up and
advertising the Forks of the Santiam more than
an organization as outlined above.
The only
thing to do al«»ut th«« matter i for every body to
take hold and give the enterprise a g<«>d stinrg
energetic push and the trick is «lone. Scio and
th«* people of th«« Forks are noted as jwopk- w ho
db things. As a rule, whatever our |«s»ple under
take to do. they «Io it well. They leave no stone
unturned if it w ill add to the success of any enter
prise they undertake. We want the "Santiam
Fair” and want it badly. It depends entirely up
on the exertions of the people. It is the duty of
one as well as another to take hol«l of th«* matter.
If all will unite in th«« right spirit as the N ews
believes will be done, and work together harmoni
ously, success is certain.
