LOOAi BREVITIES. FRIDAY Cut down the thistles. Subscribe for the P ress . J. L. Berry, of Lyons, was on our streets Monday. Patronfce yonr home paper. It works for your Interests. A Choice bit of scandal is being whispered about quietly on our streets. Soon the busy hum of the thresh er will disturb our early morning -■lumbers. Oats and and potatoes promises oow to be the most -marketable crops, this year. J. C, Littler., dentist, Albany, Ore. gives the public as near painless dentistry as anyone. Elder A. J. Jarnigan will preach at the M. E. church on the first Sat urday and Sunday in August. On Tuesday afternoon J. S. Mor ris and family and Dr. Hyde and family left for the berry patch. Mesdames G- M. Coffey and M. M. Peery are preparing to spend some days camping at tho Waterloo min- eral springs. _ The mountain berry parties have about all returned. S. M. Daniel now sports a new jump seat buggy. The Scio Roller Mill Co are con structing a new dam at the head of the race. Miss Lillie Gill, by a misstep a few days ago, sprained one of her ankles, but is again allright. Lee and Riley Bilyeu returned from a trip to Morrow county Wed nesday. Lee states that harvest hands are in demand in that section at $1.50 per day. T. J. Munkers denies the state ment made by us last week that they were at the berry patch, and says that they were at the Water loo springs. He also says that a too free use of soda water, is no good. Mr. Fdward Loat, of near this city, recently visited his friend Mr. Medders Vanderpool of Sodaville, aged 97. It is seldom that two per sons of so great an age are together. Mr. Loat has never worn spectacles, hears accurately and has an exceed ingly good memory. Mr. Loat is 79 years of age and has not had his hair cut for 12 _ year. <__ Saturday’s Fire.
