Ech and every man that
desires the welfare of his
town and neighborhood
should aid in every progress
ive enterprise. From every
single we should expect social
and moral support as well as
the promotion of our finan
cial interests. Business can
pot prosper without co-operation,
and, neither can we
expect the moral advance
ment of a community with
out the co-operation and sup
port of the people. Spray has
an advantage in location and
room for expansion in vari
ous ways. " We may say that
there is great room along
moral, , social and religious
lines, and the establishment
pf better social environments
will induce people of refine
ment '.to remain with us as
factors jn our social activi
ties. If one wishes to fulfill
tha highest aim in lif: they
should try to make the way
pleasant for their fellow men
and help develop the latent

Malheur County proposes
haj; Grant should take the
initiatiye in the matter of a
preliminary 'survey for the
John Day highway. This is
proper and right as the worst
part of the survey and the
most mileage is in Grant
county. It has been estima
ted that it will cost something
like three thousand dollars
thru the county, and at a
meeting of representatives
from the various good roads
organizations with the the
