The 640 Acre
Tract

the entry of that number of acres
of "stock raising lands," has
passed , the House of Represent
atives, and is now before the
Senate.' The land subject to such
entry must be chiefly valuable
for grazing "and ;. raising'of for
age crops; and mustnot contain
merchantable timber , nor be
susceptible of irrigation from
any known source of water sup
ply. The thought laying at the
foundation,- of this legislation is
. that it will reasonably require. 640
acres of this kind of land to sup
port a family. - : "

20 milts. The purchase of con
tiguous grazing land may be at
