T he cam paign will be brought to a close under the sealed ballot system . D uring the final period
of th e cam paign the co n testan ts will deposit th e ir subscriptions and rem ittan ces etc.. Into a locked and
sealed ballot box. No one. not even the cam paign m anager, will know how much any co n testan t
accom plishes during th a t time.

Should a candidate
D uring the last tw o weeks of the cam paign four prom inent business men In Lane county will be
selected and asked to act as official Judges. They will declare th e cam paign closed a t 8 p. m. Ju n e 3,
1931, and will then open the ballot box and count the votes earned by the co n te sta n ts for th e sub­
scriptions they have deposited into the ballot box nnd they will check the votes Issued to c o n testan ts
by th e cam paign m anager for the first and second e rio d s W hen they have com pleted the check they
will aw ard th e prizes to th e w inners im m ediately.
Any collusion on th e part of the candidatea to nullfy com petition or any o th e r com bination arran g em en t or
effort d etrim en tal to o th er candidates, will not be to lerated by thia new spaper.

How Prizes Will Be Awarded

At the close of th e cam paign the official Judg es will count the votes and th e c o n te sta n t having

subscriptions during the entire eampalgn. Renewals will
earn the full amount of votes during the first period only
and ufter date which is May 1«. renewals will count one
half of the amount shown In the above schedule.
This eampalgn Is named "Earn and Win” because each
person participating is paid ten percent cash commission
weekly; based on their total subscription sales for the
previous week. There is no limit to the amount of cash
to he earned as the more subscriptions sold, the more
commission wil he paid. The more cash a contestant
earns during the campaign, the greater is their oppor­
tunity to win the first prize. There are absolutely no
losers in this campaign as everyone who is entered and
remains active until the close will win one of the prizes
or they will be paid an additional ten percent of their
total subscription sales for the entire campaign.
EVERYBODY WINS—What could be Fairer?
A fter the first th ree grand prizes have been aw arded the next th re e c o n testan ts having th e g re a t­
est to tal of votes for th e sale of The Springfield News and the n ext th ree c o n te sta n ts having the
g reu test total of vote« for the sale of the Eugene li cord will be aw arded the th ree prlxes given by
each new spaper In advertised o rd er In the order in wh ch they finish In th e vote standing. All others
who have rem ained active throughout the cam paign will he aw arded 10% cash com m ission based on
th e ir to tal subscription sales.
Bonus Vote Period
How to Get Votes
There will be three periods in the campaign and bonus
votes will be given on new subscriptions turned in during
these periods as follows:
First Period from the beginning until 8 p. in. May 16th,
each $20 in new subscriptions earn 60,000 extra votes.
Second Period from the end of the first period until
8 p. m. May 29th. each $20 in new subscriptions earns
40,000 extra votes.
Third Period from the end of the second period until
the close of the campaign which is 8 p. m. Wednesday,
June 3, 1931, each $20 in new subscriptions earns 20,00o
extra votes.
NO BONUS VOTES GIVEN ON RENEWALS
Votes t an he earned by clipping the nomination coupon
below which counts 5,000 votes for the person whose
name appears on same and by selling subscriptions to
this newspaper or to the Eugene Record. Many extra
votes can be earned by getting subscriptions early in
the campaign. See explanation under Honus Vote
