menced jabberin' and grin­
nin’ and pointed off into
th* ju n gle
Just aa I was
beglnnin* to think he waa
goin* dippy he ruahed off
into th* Jungle, still Jabber­
in ’.
I waa puffin* away on m y
pipe, wonderin’ if I’d ever
ace Woogie again, when a
voice among th ’ thick trees
y e lle d :
"Ahoy! Douse your top-
lights, you lubber!"
Well s ’r, what with Woo-
gle’a funny actions, and
now thia voice yellin ’ that
way, I was beglnnln’ to
think that I waa goin’ dlp-
and hearin’ things,
ell a’r, what do you think
I found when I hunted up
th ’ place where that voice
cam e from ?
A bloom in’
parrot, talk in ’ and y ellin ’
like a bucko mate in a
blow.
I was chucklin’ at th’
parrot’s funny lingo, when
a ll a t once about a hundred.

Down I went, and th’ last

screechlri’ o f th’ parrot.
When I came to I waa
tied to a big post, and those
grinnin’ apes o f cannibals
were plnchin’ me. rollin’
their eyes, and lickin’ their

B ill, here’s where you go
Into th’ stew pot for aure.
•• I waa feclin* pretty sad,
when there waa a screech,
and out o f th’ jungle flew
th ’ parrot, with W oogie and
another ape right behind
him. In About two shaker
o f a top s’! sheet, Woogie
aunt those savages scodtin’
and had me loose from th’
post. Then once more he
commenced iabberin*, look­
in’ kinds foolish, and point­
ed to th ’ oth e- ape. Then
I got wise. Th’ other ape
was W oogie’ missus. Well
s*r I had to laugh, and Woo­
gie and his m issus kinds
giggled too.
In my next yarn I’ll tell
you how I escaped from th ’
cannibal island.
