But the Shop Lifters
These shop site prom oters w ould have th e ir
c ity believe th a t S pringfield is fig h tin g Eugene in
th e controversy over the Southern P acific shops
and term inals. They seek to draw the fire in this
b a ttle on the taxpayers o f Ettgeue the same way
th e y expect to saddle $175.000 in bonds on them,
’Springfield people have only the kindliest feel-
ln g tow ard the people o f Eugene and th is feeling
w ill exist so long as no harsh act on the part o f
o u r neighbors is com m itteed. We believe the peo-
pie o f Eugene cherish o u r friendship and that is
the reason we believe they w ill refuse to become a
p a rtv to th is nefarious scheme to bond that c ity
to buv the Southern P acific shops.
In th is controversy S pringfield is opposing only
th a t little bunch of schemers In Eugene and she
Is not alone in th is respect. Hundreds o f Eugene
