Motorists who follow this
rule in their gasoline buying
find that they not only save
money because "Red Crown"
yields more per gallon mileage
but improve the power and
stamina of the motor.
"Red Crown'!, enables your
car to develop the maximum of
power that its makers built into
it. It vaporizes rapidly and uni
formly in the carburetor, and
i3 consumed completely in the
cylinders. Uniform wherever
and whenever you buy it
hence you don't have to bother

LET REASON RULE
The attitude of the commu
nity or of any individual in it to
wards the railroad question
should be governed by business
principles. The only question
is, where doesthe interest of the
community lie?
You can find somebody in
every community, when such a
question is up, who thinks it suf
fi?ient for him to say, "I don't
like the Southern Pacific." What
has that to do with it? This la
a bigger question than any
man's grouch. You can find
somebody in Oregon who has
lived on any lme of railroad in
the United State11 that you can
name. Interview them all, and
you will not find one who has
not known some neighbor who
had a complaint against his
home railroad. The question
before each Springfielder Is, Are
you willing that the community
shall have the benefit of the en
larged activities of the Southern
Pacific company?
The completion of the Natron
line would be of immense bene
fit to all the territory served by
this line, Springfield with all the
rest. Hut the location here of
the great shops planned by the
Southern Pacific would be of
more benefit to Springfield, a
hundred to one, than the build
ing of the line without the shops.
There is not the slightest pros
pect that any other road than
the Southern Pacific will ever
build them. It is the Southern
Pacific or nobody. Which side
are you on?
i Then you can Btill hear a per
son say now and then: " have
been hearing this talk for ten
years. I'm getting tired of wait
ing." You might as well say
that about, the Oregou rain.
There is Just as much reason in
it, and .V will h'lx jutt as much
